Happy Birthday, ZukaBaby!

It’s true. Some things DO get better with age. ZukaBaby is one of them.

If you haven’t yet visited ZukaBaby, you are missing out. Have you ever wanted to try cloth diapering but been intimidated to try? Have you ever felt alone in your nursing struggles? Have you desired to purchase products for your little ones that are environmentally and socially responsible but not known where to go? ZukaBaby offers answers to all of this and so much more! Besides, ZukaBaby is very baby/child friendly; what other store offers toys (kitchen, toolbox, trucks) to play with? Not to mention, there’s a changing table to change baby and chairs where you can feed your baby.  NOMB kids love going there, and we’re pretty sure yours would, too!

ZukaBaby, a Natural Parenting Boutique located in the Green Light District in New Orleans, specializes in cloth diapers, baby wearing, breastfeeding, natural toys and organic layette. And, ZukaBaby is celebrating its three-year anniversary with a citywide birthday party in their brand new (and bigger) location this Saturday, September 15!

All toddlers turning age three this year and their families are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day, featuring door prizes, surprise mommy guests, kid-friendly entertainment, light refreshments and (of course) birthday cake.

ZukaBaby aims to serve not only as a retail store, but also provides ongoing Natural Parenting classes, a resource board, a diaper exchange and drop off location for the Cloth Diaper Foundation and products that are made with respect to workers and the environment and so much more. One of our contributors, Courtney, leads her La Leche League meetings there every month as well!

Birthday party attendees are encouraged to bring a birthday present for a 6-month to 5-year-old for donation to the Kingsley House Head Start and Early Head Start Preschool program, a program that has been at the forefront of early education and quality childcare in Louisiana for over 100 years.
  • WHAT: ZukaBaby is 3!

  • WHERE: ZukaBaby (2122 Magazine Street, New Orleans, LA 70130)
  • HOW: The birthday party is free and open to the public.

WHY? Have fun with the family, support a local business AND give back to children in need, all at the same time! ZukaBaby will have a merry-go-round at the event and a face painter, as well as a puppet show at 1:00pm. Starting now, you can visit ZukaBaby’s Facebook page to enter to win a surprise birthday present at the birthday party. The honorary chair for the event is Melanie Hebert from WWL who just welcomed a sweet baby of her own.

Ashley is the Co-Owner of New Orleans Mom, Red Stick Mom and Lafayette Mom, now the largest network of parenting websites in South Louisiana. Proud graduates of the University of Virginia, she and her husband Blaise spent time in Tampa and Scottsdale prior to settling down back home in New Orleans, something they both said "would never happen." An avid runner, she'll try any workout at least once and is always up for sweating with friends. When she’s not shuttling her 3 very active kids to school, gymnastics or baseball, you can find her cheering for the Saints, trying new restaurants or spending time with family and friends. She's also not afraid to return mediocre books to the library before finishing them because life is too short for bad books. A native New Orleanian, Ashley loves exploring and discovering the beauty of South Louisiana through her growing children's eyes.
