Tartine – Giveaway

If you haven’t been to Tartine, you are missing out. I first discovered Tartine when I was pregnant with Thatcher. With pregnancy number one, I still followed all of the “rules,” like being sure to heat meat thoroughly. I remember my first order vividly; I added a few things, removed a few things and asked the sweet girl behind the counter if she could also please heat the sandwich. Basically, between my cravings and craziness I created a sandwich that wasn’t technically on the menu. But she indulged me with a smile on her face. And thus began my love affair with Tartine.

Heated turkey sandwich, how I love thee.

I’ve since gotten to know the owner, Cara, fairly well, and I really can’t say enough nice things about her food or customer service. Thatcher and I were frequent customers during my maternity leave, and I’ve used Tartine for multiple work events. It’s one of the few places where I can say that I’ve truly never had a bad meal. Cara always remembers my “special order” and never forgets that I like extra mustard. I just love that about Tartine; even when they’re busy, the personal touches remain.

Cara grew up right here in New Orleans and is also a mother to a little boy named Teller (whose name I’ve always adored).  After graduating from Loyola University she moved to Manhattan to attend the pastry program at The French Culinary Institute, which is where she would meet her future husband, Evan. Cara eventually convinced fellow foodie Evan to move back home with her, and the rest is history.  Evan is now the executive chef of Joel’s and also helps out with Tartine.

One New Orleans Moms Blog reader will win a $30 gift certificate to Tartine. All launch week giveaway winners will be announced on Saturday, August 18.

Ashley is the Co-Owner of New Orleans Mom, Red Stick Mom and Lafayette Mom, now the largest network of parenting websites in South Louisiana. Proud graduates of the University of Virginia, she and her husband Blaise spent time in Tampa and Scottsdale prior to settling down back home in New Orleans, something they both said "would never happen." An avid runner, she'll try any workout at least once and is always up for sweating with friends. When she’s not shuttling her 3 very active kids to school, gymnastics or baseball, you can find her cheering for the Saints, trying new restaurants or spending time with family and friends. She's also not afraid to return mediocre books to the library before finishing them because life is too short for bad books. A native New Orleanian, Ashley loves exploring and discovering the beauty of South Louisiana through her growing children's eyes.
