Experience Excellence at Audubon
Since its founding in 1981 Audubon Schools has grown to be one of the most coveted schools in New Orleans. Whether it be the Montessori and French programs at our Uptown Campuses or our new, fully realized Gentilly Campus, Audubon Schools has continued to shine brighter each year. Last year, our Uptown Campus received an A-rating from the Louisiana Department of Education for their school performance scores and was recognized as one of the best middle schools for 2024. Audubon Gentilly has also gained recognition from the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) due to their record breaking academic growth, and also being named a top gains school.
Relationships with our parents and school-wide community is also a highlight of our success.
Madeleine Briscoe, a parent at our Lower campus said, “My daughter started at Audubon in kindergarten…[she] has grown so much during her Audubon journey. Besides meeting the obvious academic benchmarks you want your child to meet, she has gained independence, maturity, social skills, and much more. Perhaps most importantly, I am so grateful for the diversity of experiences and viewpoints she gains exposure to at Audubon. Her world has grown exponentially.” A Co-Chair of our Audubon Gentilly Parent Teacher Committee said, “The growth I have noticed in my two children has put me at ease. Even factoring in Covid; they both have shown tremendous growth. I see it in their confidence daily…Audubon Gentilly has given us a great foundation in community, art, and education. It has proven to still be a place where the education of their students is focused on the whole child. My kids and I have formed some incredible forever bonds. I’m hoping to graduate both of my children from AG.”
Our administration is such a strong suit for all of our students as well.
Kenya Hill, Director of Instructional Initiatives said, “Students at Audubon have the autonomy to show up as their most authentic selves. Students are embraced for who they are and supported both socially and academically while enrolled at Audubon. Supporting students from those standpoints allows staff members to give students multiple access points to learning, using student creativity as a catalyst for classroom engagement. Those staff members make sure students feel supported and safe while at school.”
While Montessori & French are the foundation of our schools, our arts curriculum is in a field of its own. Our Chief Academic Officer noted that, “At Audubon, we feel that academic rigor and creativity go hand in hand…From understanding character motives in Theater class that enhances literary analysis in English Language Arts class to spatial reasoning skills in visual art class supporting geometry applications during Math instruction, this is why we have the arts at all campuses as part of our student experience.” Our Talented Arts program has also gained attention outside of our walls. Our Uptown music students have performed for French Quarter Fest and the Bywater Arts Market while our AG Gems Dance Team has also made waves performing in different parades around the city as well as for our Fall and Spring Informances! Students are also able to participate in the arts as well as some athletics such as football, basketball, soccer and more during our after school program “Arts Reach”.
Our Rarebirds truly receive a well rounded and unique experience!
Ms. Adrienne also said, “Audubon has some unique programming, but what is most special to me is our sense of belonging. Audubon is truly for everyone, and you can feel that once you walk through the doors of any of our campuses. The Audubon mascot is the Rarebird, and that really encapsulates who we are; a community that celebrates what makes each individual in our community rare, special, and uniquely themselves.”
