Why TikTok Should Be Banned for Everyone but Us Mommas

The clock is ticking for TikTok, literally. Well, sort of. The rumor around town is that the Senate is trying to ban TikTok. What is actually happening is that they are trying to transition the ownership, but permit it to continue to exist.

Per Slate.com news: “We are talking about a transition in ownership, not a ban, not elimination of TikTok—a transition of ownership that puts it in different hands but permits it to continue to exist,” Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Wednesday. “We’re not talking about messing with it; we’re not talking about screwing around with an asset; we’re not talking about disabling it. We’re talking about disarming it.”

Let me preface the intent of my article by saying that I wholeheartedly believe TikTok, along with all social media, is very detrimental to the mental health and well being of our children. Long gone are the days when you had to have a college email to sign up for “The Facebook.” Anyone can sign up and lie about their age. Harsher restrictions should be placed on social media for anyone under the age of 18, or completely removing TikTok for anyone under 18.

I still want to provide why I, as a momma, find TikTok beneficial at the ripe ol’ age of 38.
