Burning Questions about Frozen

Frozen. You may have heard of it? The movie that has captivated kids and parents alike. The movie that has spawned endless topics on message boards and blogs, has inspired the production of countless videos of children belting out Let it Go on YouTube, and subjected some parents to four hour lines at Disney World, waiting to have their little ones meet Elsa and Anna.

After seeing it three (yes, three) times in the theater, and about 100 times since the DVD arrived on our doorstep last week, I have some questions about this film. Important questions, such as:

Why didn’t their parents listen to Grand Pabbie? They took Elsa to the trolls for help, yet completely disregard the advice. Grand Pabbie says for Elsa to learn to control her powers and not to fear them. Somehow, her dad took that to mean “Conceal it, don’t feel it…don’t let it show.”

Does Elsa have to wear gloves into the shower to avoid freezing the water?

Why doesn’t the mom speak more? Throughout the movie, she has maybe one line, and given the gravity of the situation, I would assume she would have more to say on the matter.

Did Bulda the troll kidnap Kristoff and Sven?

Where were their parents going? I read a theory about that here. Pretty interesting. Could that be the reason why Rapunzel shows up at Elsa’s coronation? Speaking of, did Rapunzel and Flynn get stuck in Arendelle until the winter was over?

Is the owner or Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post (and Sauna) talking to his family in the hot tub, or a random family?

Did Elsa know that the snow monster would try to kill Anna and Kristoff?

Are Hans’ brothers partially responsible for Hans being a complete sociopath? I mean, pretending someone is invisible for two years would probably have a lasting affect on a person’s psyche.

Why does Kristoff smell?

Do you have any unresolved questions about Frozen to add? I’d love to see them below!

  1. Since Kristoff saw Grand Papi heal Anna once, how come he doesn’t recognize her and Elsa?

Why does Hans not doom the city from the time Anna leaves?

Who takes care of the girls after their parents passing?

Did the castle workers know of Elsa’s powers?

Did the girls (or at least Anna) get to go outside, within the closed gates?

    • Why didn’t their parents listen to Grand Pabbie? They took Elsa to the trolls for help, yet completely disregard the advice. Grand Pabbie says for Elsa to learn to control her powers and not to fear them. Somehow, her dad took that to mean “Conceal it, don’t feel it…don’t let it show.”
The parents don’t listen fully because they’re in fear of the one who is normal. They were first asked:” Born with the powers or cursed? All they could say was:
Born. And they’re getting stronger.’ They never say positive or negative things about it. The parents are already consumed with fear so anything else that they hear will be changed. They hear: : There is beauty in it…But also great danger. You must learn to control it. Fear will be your enemy.” But translate it to mean that others will fear it so she must control it by hiding it. They don’t see it as her own fear will cause danger to others and herself.

Did Bulda the troll kidnap Kristoff and Sven?
No, they were orphans. Throughout the beginning, you never see his parents. They work with the others, but no parents were ever shown. His family must have died and the other workers or distant family members allowed him to work.

  2. Why does Hans look at Anna all lovey dovey when she runs off to the coronation. No one was around so there was no reason to pretend!

  3. I’m still a little baffled by what all the fuss is about with this song! As mom to a little boy, I have not seen the movie. I actually just heard the song on YouTube for the first time.. talk about behind the times. Lol! I still don’t get it though! Maybe if I had daughters it would be different. 🙂

    • I think it’s the song in the context of the movie. Several of my boymom friends love it. See the movie when you can; your sons will likely enjoy it- mine do!

  4. Elsa made herself a new ice castle… But where’s all of her furniture? No kitchen? How will she eat? Very impractical! Lol…

And BTW… I’m a mom of boys. Frozen has been watched countless times in our house and we know every song!

  5. Just wanted to clarify, kristoff explained that he and sven were orphaned and living alone working as ice miners, when he and anna were riding through the woods, before the wolves attacked.
Bulda being a troll with mystical powers I assume knew this and decided to keep them and raise them… he smells because trolls don’t bathe… or that trolls think all humans smell bad, lol.

  6. I had a theory on the ice man…. Elsa created him just like Olaf, who is his own free-thinking being SO I don’t think she sent him to attack, he just got really pissed when Anna threw that snowball at him! God, I’ve seen this way too many times
