Why I Will Always Buy Girl Scout Cookies

Why I Will Always Buy Girl Scouts Cookies

It’s almost time for the girl scout cookies to make their annual return into our lives! Let’s first talk about where to find them.

You can usually spot tables outside of your local grocery stores or churches with boxes and boxes of your favorite treats. However, if you need help finding local Girl Scout cookies, you can go to this website to search for cookies in your community.

If you aren’t finding any cookies near you, don’t fret. You can also order online here. How convenient is that! Online cookie shopping was definitely NOT a thing 25 years ago when I was selling girl scout cookies.

Maybe you’re on the verge and not sure if you want to put out the money for Girl Scout cookies.

Here are my 6 reasons why I will ALWAYS buy Girl Scout Cookies:

1. I was a girl scout: Way back when, I was lucky enough to enjoy troop meetings, events, camping in tents, summer camps with songs and crafts, and of course sell girl scout cookies. I learned so much from my time in girl scouts and gained some lifelong best friends.

2. Proceeds stay local: All the proceeds from cookie sales stay local. After paying the cookie factory, the rest of the money goes to the local troop to fund troop activities and outreach projects.

3. You can freeze them! To my surprise, they freeze rather well. Which means 3 months after cookie season is over, you can break your cookies out of the freezer and enjoy them a little longer!

4. Give as a gift: Who doesn’t love receiving Girl Scout cookies as a gift? You can get some for your mom, your sister, your husband, your best friend. Bring some to the office and watch your coworkers jump for joy. I’ve seen grown adults squeal at the site of Girl Scouts Cookies.  I swear these cookies bring smiles to people across the nation.

5. Girl Scouts gain important life skills by selling cookies:

These skills include but are not limited to:

  • Setting Goals: The girls make sales goals and a plan of action to achieve their goals.
  • Decision Making: The girls make numerous decisions including how to promote their cookies, where to sell them, and how to spend the money earned.
  • Budgeting: The girls make a budget as well as take cookie orders and manage money from customers.
  • People Skills: The girls have to learn how to work with a team as well as communicate with customers.

6. They are delicious!  I mean who doesn’t crave girl scout cookies? I see them and my mouth starts watering. There are 12 different types. Don’t like caramel? That’s okay. They have chocolate and mint! Don’t like chocolatey mint? That’s okay. They have lemon. Don’t like lemon? That’s okay. They have peanut butter! I could go on and on but let’s go ahead and meet the cookies!

  • Adventurefuls are indulgent brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel flavored crème with a hint of sea salt.

Are there gluten free cookies?

Why yes there are!  The Toffee-tastic and the Caramel Chocolate Chip are gluten free.

Are there vegan cookies?

Yes, some Girl Scout Cookies are made with vegan ingredients including the most popular cookie Thin Mints.

What’s the best cookie?

This is a tricky question. A crowd favorite is Thin Mints, but, I’ve always loved the Dosidos Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies. My new favorite is Lemonades and I cannot wait to try the Smores!

Now, the only question left is, are you going to buy Girl Scout cookies this year?
