Update & PSA :: Inside Dining is Open at Ground Pat’i in Rivertown!

Ground Pat’i on David Drive tragically burned down on January 23rd. But have you heard about their new location in Rivertown where the Porch and Patio use to be?

INSIDE RENOVATIONS COMPLETED! INSIDE OPEN WITH AIR CONDITION!

best indoor dining with kids in Metairie, Kenner or New Orleans

Here are a few reasons you should visit Ground Pat’i:

1. The Activities:

The activities for kids are still there! They have a large Connect Four game, a large tic tac toe game, and so much more. Anywhere that kids can play while adults eat is a win for us!

2. The Food:

The food was delicious. I had a grilled chicken sandwich and my husband had a burger. We were pleasantly surprised with how tasty everything was. The kids also devoured their burgers and chicken tenders.

3. The Air Conditioning!

During the transition, you could get take out and sit under the tents with a large fan to help with the heat.  Thankfully, the beautiful renovations to the inside are now complete {as of August 2023} and the air conditioning addition is a fabulous upgrade!

4. The Friendly and Timely Service:

Although the restaurant can get busy on Friday and Saturday night, the staff is friendly and helpful. In my experience, the food comes out in about 15-20 minutes!

5. The Location:

Rivertown has lots of other things you can do with kids after you eat at Ground Pat’i! Just one block away is the Kenner Planetarium and Space Science Complex (open to the public on Saturdays). Just two blocks away is the levee where you can run and play, fly a kite, or roll down the hill. Also within walking distance is the Rivertown Theater where you may be able to catch a play after you eat. These are just of the few great things that Rivertown has to offer.

Plans for the future:

After speaking with some of the employees, this location in Rivertown will be their permanent location. They plan to build a stage for live music outside. I told them about our great experience and that my family will definitely be back soon.

My kids (ages 6 and 2) are already asking to go back! They had a blast! My favorite part of our outing was that we were able to go out to eat and the kids enjoyed themselves and were entertained the entire time. Let’s be honest; taking children out to eat can be challenging. I’m so grateful to have found an easy, fun food outing for our family. You should definitely give this place a try!!
