Bon Appetit – Mange á Croissant!

Bon Appetit – Mange á Croissant!

This morning, my family took advantage of the beautiful weather to enjoy breakfast on the patio of our new favorite French bakery, Croissant. Just off the Causeway in Mandeville, and open Wednesday through Saturday, 7am through 5pm, Croissant’s parking lot is usually overflowing, and the line is regularly out the door.

As soon as you walk in their door, you are greeted with the amazing smell of baking bread and a beautiful array of breads and pastries. Don’t worry if the line is a little long, because you’re going to need that time to take in all of the mouth-watering options and decide what to get. In the last few weeks, my family has picked up a French baguette and a fig, cranberry, hazelnut sourdough loaf, which was just incredible. We’ve also had several of the croissants and Danishes, and a coffee cruffin, all of which were perfectly glazed and crisp. Of course, I couldn’t leave without trying a piece of the chocolate frosted banana cake, and I will definitely be purchasing an entire cake the next time we have family in town.

In addition to the sweet pastries, Croissant serves a limited breakfast menu on Saturdays, including breakfast sandwiches and French toast, and has several savory options for lunch and dinner, including stuffed croissants, grilled sandwiches, salads, soups, and quiche. They also offer both sweet and savory crepes and have some of the most beautiful fruit tartes I’ve ever seen.

Of course, you can’t enjoy a good pastry without something to drink. Croissant serves Flamjeaux Coffee, another of my favorite local businesses. They also make fresh squeezed juices, and my youngest really got a kick out of watching our server turn whole apples into a delicious, frothy, fresh juice. And if you’re dining later in the day, Croissant offers a nice selection of wine that can be purchased by the glass or by the bottle.

If you’re on the Northshore and you haven’t checked out Croissant, you’re missing out! And if you’re on the Southshore, you won’t regret a quick drive across the bridge for their amazing food!
