What’s the BIG deal? Smalls Sliders!
If you’ve been living under a shipping container, maybe you haven’t heard the news about the newest quick-service franchise to hit the area, featuring smaller than average hamburgers (sliders) and partially owned by the beloved Drew Brees.
The restaurant is cleverly comprised of two shipping containers stacked on top of one another and smartly painted. If you’re thinking that doesn’t leave much room for sit-down dining, you’re right; Smalls Sliders is drive thru or walk up only, like a few other fast food restaurants. Smalls is set to open in the bustling Clearview area of Metairie later on this year, but they’re already up and running (with a healthy wait time) in Marrero.
My family and I stopped by for a “small” bite the other day. The burgers are similar in taste to a fast food chain featuring a “breezy” red headed mascot, but the buns are very buttery. I preferred the waffle fries over the burgers, to be honest; the fries were crispy and flavorful. I didn’t have any “Smauce” (reportedly developed by Chef John Folse) or Queso, and I didn’t need them. I’m usually a “ranch with fries” kinda gal.
I was not able to find any nutrition facts or allergy information online, so keep that in mind if you have severe dietary restrictions.
Also, as mentioned above, I would also expect a bit of a wait when the Metairie location does open. We waited for our meal about 45 minutes in Marrero at 9:00pm on a weekday. If you love a burger, you may want to check out our list of the best kid-friendly burgers in New Orleans.
