Best Places to Eat, Shop, and Explore in Ponchatoula, Louisiana
Many times when I tell people where I live, I get asked, “Is that where the Strawberry Festival is?” And yes! It is. However, aside from having a slight obsession with strawberries, Ponchatoula has much more to offer than the Strawberry Festival. Take a trip downtown and you will fall in love with the small-town historic charm, with great-tasting restaurants, bars, antique shopping, and of course, an abundance of local strawberry vendors.

Restaurants
Toula Burger Co – They have great tasting burgers and roast beef po-boys.
The District – If you’re feeling fancy.
Roux & Brew Seafood and Steak House – A great atmosphere with live music.
NOLA Mia Pizzeria – This place has quickly grown to be one of my favorite restaurants in Ponchatoula. You have to try the boudin balls and the hummus for appetizers.
Paul’s Cafe – Family-owned restaurant with outdoor seating.

Sweets
Toula Berry Treats & Gifts – This is the perfect place to stop for ice cream while downtown.
Momma’s Krewe – Tons of options for snowballs and a king cake egg roll that I have yet to try, but it sounds intriguing.
Stores/Things to do
Berry Town Produce – A grocery store that gives off an old-time feel. It’s a great place to get local produce and gifts.
Ponchatoula Country Market – Located in an old train station in the heart of downtown – they have local handmade gifts and treats for sale.
Ponchatoula Area Recreation District 1 – A park with a walking path and a catch-and-release pond for fishing.
Mercy Farm Goat Milk Products – This hidden gem is on a quiet street in Ponchatoula. They have goats, pigs, chickens, and more. The farm is adorable, and your kids (and you) will love the makeshift old western town feel of the place. Check out their Facebook page for times and events because I believe they do close at some point during the summer to keep the animals out of the heat. They also have a trading post that sells goat milk lotion, soap, freeze-dried candy, and more.
CJ’s Antiques and Collectibles – If you love antique shops, CJ’s is a must-see! A labyrinth of rooms filled with vintage and unique items.

Nice overview. I think this town sounds better for my cross country trip than the French Quarter. The only thing missing is cajun or the creole food!
