Worth the Drive :: Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo

Take a visit with me to Serengeti Springs at the Hattiesburg Zoo. With only a little over 2 hours away, you can visit a brand-new water park with something for everyone in your family!

Born and raised in Hattiesburg, I was so excited for my hometown to offer something like this for my family to enjoy on a hot summer day! With only a few miles off the interstate, your entire family can enjoy slides, splash pads and a lazy river! Serengeti Springs feels safe and clean. The park is not so large that you feel like you are lost in the crowd and big enough for everyone to enjoy!

There truly is something for everyone at Serengeti Springs. Personally, I do not enjoy the water slides, but I did find myself floating and enjoying the lazy river complete with a swim up bar for only guests 21 and older! I relaxed in the river while my kids and husband enjoyed racing down the many slides the park has to offer. Harbari Riverside Sips offers many adult beverages including beer and cocktails made to order. I enjoyed the seasonal cocktail, the Peacock Plunge that was served in a souvenir cup.

If thrills are more to your taste, there are over 5 slides and attractions to pick from! Blue Rapid Run, Reptile Racers, and Serengeti Swirl are a few of the faster slides. There are even slides and water stations for the little ones. Water canons for the kids to spray their friends and even a few bucket dumping stations to get soaked under.

After a few hours of fun in the sun, those kiddos are bound to need a break and have a snack. With a wide variety of choices, you and your family can enjoy something from Chakula snacks or one of the many Boa Bites Food Trucks. From street tacos and nachos to the Serengeti Smash Burger, you can enjoy your food either by the lazy river or their picnic area complete with tables, umbrellas and fans to beat the heat!

If you want to secure your own chairs and shade, make sure to rent a private cabana. With 3 price options to choose from, you can’t go wrong. Each offers many amenities including chaise loungers, a private safe, charging station for your devices, a ceiling fan, and food and beverage services! Serengeti Springs also offers pavilion rentals for your family needs or your child’s birthday party.

There are also gift shops in case you forgot something at home or wanted to bring a souvenir home!

Habari Nights is an adult only event at Serengeti Springs. This event has sold out so make sure to purchase your tickets in advance. If you are 21 or older, enjoy a night out at the water park with some drinks, food and fun!

Serengeti Springs offers day tickets at $25 for Monday-Thursday and $30 for Friday-Sunday. Purchase your tickets online before arriving to save a few dollars! Although they are sold out now, they do offer seasonal passes.  If you are purchasing your ticket at the gate, I do recommend getting there early or checking their Facebook page before arriving, they do reach maximum capacity from time to time and stop selling tickets.

I hope that you get to enjoy this water park in my hometown soon over a weekend or a quick day trip. You will not be disappointed!
