Lego Figure Painting Activity
My son (age 4.5) is very into Lego-building and also loves painting. I love a good STEAM activity, so when he asked if he could paint some of his Lego figures, I told him we’d give it a shot. Getting creative with your building toys sounded like a great idea!
We had some spray paint primer in the garage, which helped create a better painting surface. Some toothpicks stuck into a plate helped to hold up each individual piece of the figure while I sprayed on the primer and let it dry. (Dry time is pretty quick with primer, probably about 20-30 minutes).
Then, we used whatever acrylic paint we had in our craft closet, and he went to town painting each piece. It’s helpful to use smaller brushes and drip paint into a paper plate to keep everything contained.
After we’re finished painting, I ask my little one to clean his brushes and help me put everything away. The whole activity only took about an hour, but he enjoyed painting and can now play with his very own custom-designed Lego men.
