Worth the Drive: Bachman’s Blueberry Farm

Where to pick blueberries in Louisiana

Located in Bush, Louisiana, is the sweetest family-owned blueberry farm. Rows and rows of blueberry bushes are lush with fruit and ready for picking (usually Mid-May to Mid-July depending on the previous winter). This year, the blueberries were a little delayed and available late May to late July, but you can check the Bachman Facebook page for weekly updates and availabilities.

Bachman is named for the squirrels that inhabit the land (I had to ask). The Clark Family owns the farm and opens it up to families each year to pick their own buckets of berries. eating blueberries at Bachman's FarmMy kids love the eat-and-walk experience! A one-gallon bucket goes a very long way once you get home! We enjoyed making blueberry cobbler, blueberry muffins, and eating them fresh. (Make sure you rinse them well and let them dry on a towel before storing them in the refrigerator.)

At Bachman, you can also enjoy delicious blueberry lemonade and the most amazing cinnamon-topped muffins. Prices are really affordable, so you can add a little extra to the tip bucket for blueberries eaten along the way!
