I recently attended one of my son’s classmate’s party which took place a the brand new entertainment center, called Game On Social Hub. It is located at 2421 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, replacing the old Furniture Mart (and I am probably dating myself when I say I remember when it was Circuit City). It is a very high-tech, premier entertainment hub. It has thousands and thousands of square feet filled with state-of-the-art games, a restaurant, a full bar, friendly staff and fun for all ages. They really do have something for everyone. Bowling, arcades, axe throwing (ages 18 and over), laser tag, and more.
Bowling
The bowling area consists of 8 traditional lanes and 4 VIP lanes. The lanes have super comfortable furniture and high end scoring systems. Even better, you can experience augmented reality bowling (ABR surrounds the bowler in a mesmerizing, one-of-a-kind experience as it delivers the latest technology and entertainment trends to your lanes. It is an immense, immersive, interactive scoring experience.) for the FIRST time in the Greater New Orleans area. My son’s friend chose the scoring system that matched the Angry Bird’s app that we find on our cell phones. Another cool option, especially for birthday parties, graduations or celebrations is that you can project your very own photos directly onto the lanes. Other amenities in the bowling area include huge HD screens, great music, premium lighting, bumpers, kid friendly ramps and full food and beverage service right at your lane.
Arcade
One of the largest arcade areas I have ever seen and being the mom of a young son, I have seen my share of arcades! There is a huge assortment of games for kids, young adults and even adults. I played Wheel of Fortune myself for about 20 minutes. It felt like a casino to me, but you lose a lot less money. The games include (but not limited to) Walking Dead, Ski Ball, Wheel of Fortune, Basketball Toss, Football Toss, Ticket Wheel and more. You load as much money/credits as you wish on their kiosk and you will receive a card to use to swipe for the games. My son said it was very exciting for him because it felt like his first credit card (sorry son, no credit card for you, not sorry). Once your child, or yourself, is finished playing, head on over to the redemption store where you will find a wide variety of prizes – for example, electronics, candy, toys, stuffed animals and more.
Laser Tag
The owner of Game On Social Hub, is actual the owner of the well-known Laser Tag in Metairie. Using their knowledge and expertise, they have created the ULTIMATE Laser Tag experience. The arena is 2 stories of state-of-the-art lighting, audio and lasers. The experience is a total of 10 minutes long. It is super family friendly and good for groups of all sizes.
Axe Throwing
Now, unfortunately, since I was at a kid’s birthday party I could not partake in the Axe Throwing. But I did watch for a few minutes when passing by. Not going to lie, I am SO glad they have an age requirement for this. Can you imagine being in an enclosed space with a bunch of axes and 10 seven year old boys throwing them? No thank you. A lot of the adults at the party decided we would get together soon for a happy hour and go to do some axe throwing. The axe throwing area also features augmented reality. There are high-quality laser projections that bring illuminated targets to life.
Restaurant / Bar
The restaurant has an enormous amount of options. Pre-game shareables like spinach and artichoke dip, crawfish egg rolls and nachos. You can also get pizza, burgers, salads, soups, wraps and more. There is a kid’s menu available as well. Within the restaurant, there is a full service bar. Yes, please! The bar is also home to giant HD screens that feature all of the day’s sports.
