There are so many things to do with kids in New Orleans this Fall! We have also put together over 75 of our favorite ideas for entertaining kids in New Orleans. There are ideas for every family’s budget and interests.

New Orleans

First Presbyterian Church

Location: 5401 S. Claiborne Avenue, New Orleans, LA

Dates: October 9th – 31st

Times: Monday – Friday 3:00 pm to dusk, Saturday 10:00 am – dusk, Sunday 1:00 pm – dusk

Come out to their annual pumpkin patch fundraiser and find pumpkins of all kinds!

St. Paul’s Episcopal School

Location: 6249 Canal Blvd. (Lakeview)
Dates: October 8th through October 30th
Times: Monday through Friday 3:30pm – 6:00pm,  Saturday 10:00am – 6:00pm, and Sunday 10:00 am – 5:00pm
Event Details: St. Paul’s provides pumpkins of all sizes, from 3 pounds to over 40 pounds. Photo ops are available. No cash. Credit and debit cards only.

 St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch

Location:1031 S. Carrollton Ave. (Uptown)
Dates: September 25th through October 30th
Times: Saturday through Thursday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, Friday 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Event details: Kid friendly –  games, crafts, and photo spots. Cash, Venmo, and credit are all accepted.

Sugar Roots Farm

Location: 10701 Willow Dr. New Orleans, LA

Dates: Every Saturday in October

Times: TBA

Event Details: Sugar Roots Farm will have an open pumpkin patch every Saturday in October, as well as hosting a Fall Fest one weekend. Tickets will be sold online so check for more info online.

Metairie

St. Martin’s Episcopal Church

Location: 2216 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA
Dates: Now through October 31st
Times: M-F 3:30pm – 6:00pm; Saturday and Sunday 11:00am – 5:00pm

Event Details: Pumpkins of varying sizes. On Friday (10/14) and Sunday (10/16), Red M studios will be providing free photos for patrons who bring food items or cash donations for Second Harvest Food Bank.

St. Augustine Church

Location: 3412 Haring Road, Metairie, LA
Dates: October 1st through the 31st.
Times: Open Mon-Fri from 12:00pm until 8:00pm and Sat-Sun from 9:00am-8:00pm

Event Details: A variety of sizes. Schools can order large quantities for pickup or delivery.

Atonement Lutheran Church

Location: 6500 Riverside Dr, Metairie, LA
Dates: October 22nd
Times: 6:30 – 8:00pm

Event Details: Trunk or Treat! 50+ Trunks, tons of candy, music, concessions for purchase, and more. All are welcome, free entry.

Westbank

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church

Location: 3245 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey, LA
Dates: October 16th through October 31st
Times:  Mon-Sat from 10:00am until 6:00pm and Sun from 12:00pm until 6:00pm

Event Details: Pumpkins of varying sizes.

They will also be having a Fall Fest on October 22nd & 29th with various vendors.

St. Bonaventure Catholic Church

Location: 329 S. Jamie Blvd, Avondale
Dates: October 8th through October 31st
Times:  Mon-Sat from 10:00am until 6:00pm and Sun from 11:00am until 6:00pm

Event Details: Pumpkins of varying sizes.

Troop 11’s 3rd Annual Pumpkin Patch

Location: United Methodist Church, 115 E Damour Street, Chalmette

Date: October 22nd 11am – 4pm

Event Details: Pumpkin patch & craft fair. Costume contest at 1 PM.

Bantings Nursery

Location: 3425 River Road, Bridge City, LA
Dates: October 3rd – November 1st
Times:  Mon-Sat from 9:00am until 5:00pm and Sun from 9:00am until 4:00pm
Event Details: Banting’s has over 8 varieties of pumpkins available along with gourds, Indian corn, hay bales, etc. Make sure to stop by the fall-themed photo area to capture some memories of the family.

Northshore {Mandeville, Madisonville, Covington, Lacombe}

St. Anselm Madisonville

Location: 306 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, LA
Dates: October 30th
Times: after 11 am mass
Event Details:  St. Anselm’s Family Fun Day and Pumpkin Patch. No cost to enter; pumpkins vary in size. Guests are encouraged to wear family-friendly costumes to compete in the costume contest. There will be games, food, and other fun festivities.

St. Peter Church

Location: 125 E. 19th Avenue, Covington, LA
Dates: TBA

Event Details: Pumpkins of all sizes, from decor size to small ones for pies. School visits are welcome. Call 985-892-2422 for more information.

Banting’s Nursery

Location: 26300 US 190, Lacombe, LA
Dates: October 1st – November 1st
Times: Monday – Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sunday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Plant Bash Monster Mash is on October 30th from 9am-5pm

Hammond

Mrs. Heather’s Pumpkin Patch

Location: 11215 Lee’s Lane (Hammond, LA)
Dates: September 24th through November 6th
Times: Monday through Sunday 9:00am until 4:00pm
Event Details: $9 per child, adults are free. Cash only. Pick a pumpkin, zip line, jumping pillow, face painting, farm animals, hay maze, picnic lunch spot, and more. Mrs. Heather’s also schedules field trips and birthday parties!

Slidell

St. Luke The Evangelist

Location: 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, LA
Dates: Opening October 11th; Family Bash is October 15th & 16th
Times: Daily; Monday – Friday (3:30pm – dark) and Saturday-Sunday (9:00am – dark)
Event Details: No cost to enter; pumpkins vary in size. Photo opportunities.

First United Methodist Church

Location: 433 Erlanger Ave, Slidell
Dates: September 24th – October 31st
Times: Daily 11am – 7pm

The First United Methodist Church in Slidell announces the return of its annual fall pumpkin patch! Grab your family and find your perfect pumpkins, snap a fall picture in one of their photo booths, and snack on a homemade sweet treat.

Baton Rouge

Important Note:

If you are planning to attend a church Pumpkin Patch be sure to call ahead. Many of the churches we spoke with said the opening dates were contingent on the pumpkins arriving as scheduled and are subject to change. 

Moving from Nebraska in middle school, Dana considers herself a New Orleanian 25 years later. She now lives in Belle Chasse with her husband Ryan, 10-year-old Mila, and 6-year-old Rex. As a local Mortgage Lender, there is nothing more satisfying for her than helping people achieve their homeownership goals. You can find her on the weekend doing DIY projects, cheering on LSU or the Saints, and spending time with her family. A lover of all revelry, there is no festival, concert, or event that she won't go to! Catch her with the Krewe of Cleopatra each Mardi Gras. She gets out of town with her kids as much as possible, they enjoy the outdoors, especially the mountains & the beach. Affectionately known as "Dana Dolittle" to her friends, you can expect her to have a random animal she is trying to help at any given time. Dana loves to write & says there are no topics off limits.

    Can you please add Banting’s Nursery to the pumpkin patch list? They offer a huge variety of pumpkins and a fall family photo area!
    They are open 7 days a week. Located in Bridge City and Lacombe.

  2. There are NO pumpkins at Scout Island! I went there based on this. It is not a family friendly event even in the daytime. There were depictions of mutilated bodies, frightening clowns and inappropriate music. Please revise your list so other parents of young children do not make the same mistake .
