Are You Ready For a New Look? {Sponsored Giveaway :: Makeover and Photography Session}

Having small children can make otherwise routine tasks seemingly impossible. Before children, I often wondered why mothers usually had either extremely long hair or extremely short hair. After my first child, I completely forgot about myself. I was in what I called, a “baby fog.” Life that existed outside my child ceased to exist to me. All parts of me suffered. I never cut my hair, bought new makeup or got mani/pedis. I didn’t do a single thing for myself. My world was simply about my baby.

Recently we discovered a wonderful woman named Ulla Gaudin, a mother herself. She is a professional stylist who often works on-set for Hollywood South but, in her free time, is a traveling stylist. She offers her services wherever you need them. You name it, she’s got you covered; from hairpieces and lash extensions to Rodan+Fields skincare and makeup application. Two of the New Orleans Moms Blog contributors got the chance to experience Ulla’s services at no charge, which included a makeover and tips for make-up application, and the opinions expressed this post are completely their own.

Jamie’s Experience

If you’re a busy mom who could use a little help, or even just a hair cut, Ulla is an amazing resource. As a stylist myself, and most recently an esthetician, I was impressed by her work and vast knowledge of the beauty industry. I have suffered with dark circles all my life. I’ve come up with potential reason after reason as to why they haunt me, but never have they ceased to exist. Ulla turned me on to an eye cream by Rodan+Fields that has actually made an incredible transformation to my eyes. Working in the industry as an esthetician, I’ve tried everything. Nothing has ever worked this well. I’m hooked!

Andie’s Experience

When I met Ulla, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew that I was tired of my current makeup routine and felt like I looked older than I really was. My biggest concerns were that my under eye circles were too dark, and I wasn’t sure if the colors I used were right for my complexion. I brought my makeup bag to Ulla and immediately discovered that the concealer I was using was wrong (and that I technically did not need any). I also learned that I did not need to use both CC cream AND mineral powder like I had been doing for the last year or so.

Anyone who knows me also knows that when it comes to makeup and me, the simpler the better. I like simple and natural and Ulla was sure to keep my preferences in mind when she did my makeup. I did mention that I had always wanted to try a good red lip, but I never knew what shades were best for my skin tone and how to balance it out with my eyes. Ulla was sure to give me a smokin’ hot red lip with classic and simple makeup on the rest of my face, so that the lips were the star of the show. She also gave me advice for what colors were best for my eye color, and how to save myself lots of time in my morning makeup routine by skipping over eyeliner, concealer and powder…all things that I totally did not need, along with suggestions on how to take good care of my skin and a regimen that she recommended for maintaining a youthful look.

  1. We all deserve mommy makeovers!!! every mommy knows the sacrifices we make for our kids and sometimes that includes a little ‘ME’ time. sometimes, losing a little turns into a lot and we forget what it’s like to be ourselves because we are so busy being mom, wife, housekeeper, etc. I wish every mommy could get a makeover. I hope every mommy finds time to be their ‘self’ even if it’s just for a brief moment, whether it’s through makeover or just taking a moment to breath. Good luck to all you mommys out there!! Happy Holidays!!

  2. I am always searching for 5 minutes to catch up on my ever evolving to do list that rolls through my brain! I am a single mom with no parents/siblings – just me boo! I work full time (environmental consultaing) and also lead a girl scout troop at my daughters school. I love motherhood, even if I am getting through it with no make up and baggy pants! I lost 36 pounds in the last year, I am trying to figure out what my style is nowadays. Merry Christmas folks! Let your light shine! xoxo

  3. I’d love to win this because I have no idea what to do with myself lol! No make up, yoga pants, and a messy bun is my look and it definitely needs an upgrade!

  4. I would just love to win this. My 2 year ols keeps meon the run 24/7. Dont have much time for myself working 2 jobs and taking care of her. So thankful my husband is able to help out as well though. Good luck ladies! Happy holidays!

  5. Oh, I’d love to win this for so many reasons but mainly because I am desperately in need of some sort of style. I don’t have a routine or a hairstyle or even wear makeup on a regular basis. This mommy needs a makeover, STAT!

  6. I’m always walking around with my hair in a ponytail. My hair is frizzy and wild. I’ve never been much of a make up person so I’m not even sure about what to apply past the basics. I have 2 little girls and would live for them to get their style advise from a mommy (me) that actually can figure this stuff out.
