St. Martin’s Episcopal School:: Inspiring Curiosity and Building Lifelong Learners
St. Martin’s Episcopal School is known for inspiring curiosity and lifelong learners. At St. Martin’s, we love seeing our alumni thrive in college and life – it’s our mission. We are a private, independent, co-educational, Episcopal school in Metairie for early childhood through 12th grade. They have helped to shape their communities in the fields of medicine, law, policy, real estate, education, politics, the arts, and more.
A large part of their success can be attributed to St. Martin’s approach to education. We inspire curiosity in our students, the first step to developing a love of learning. What makes St. Martin’s stand out is the way our curriculum values flexible and transferable knowledge, prioritizes specific application skills, embeds pathways to character development, and focuses on meta-learning.
Simply put, we believe in teaching students how to learn and how to think, not what to think.
We’re not only concerned about our students being prepared for today’s assessment or tomorrow’s academic year, but about their growth as a citizen that contributes to their community. We care deeply about our students as people and we care about the people we help them become.
It’s no longer enough for students to show what they know. In an ever-changing world, students must show what they can DO with what they know. We’re not only concerned about our students being prepared for today’s assessment or tomorrow’s academic year; we are thinking about their growth as citizens who contribute to their communities. We care deeply about our students as people, and we care about the people we help them become.
Our Episcopal identity guides how we educate and shape children through the development of strong moral and ethical values, compassion, and empathy in every student. We believe in respecting others, speaking honestly, offering kindness, and serving the community in celebration and worship of God. We welcome children and families from all faiths, backgrounds, and points of view.
Whether students are inside a classroom or outside exploring, our picturesque and expansive 18-acre campus is an exciting place where they learn and grow. Our facilities include: a chapel, 500-seat theater, visual arts building, indoor swimming pool, two full-size gymnasiums, lighted football field, all-weather track, amphitheater, student center, two libraries, multiple playgrounds, three science labs (including one specifically for Lower School students), a Lower School STeaM Lab, and the Gibbs Family Center for Innovation + Design.
Our campus facilities coupled with our caring, supportive faculty provide students with ample opportunities to grow and thrive.
From the experience of performing on the stage of our state-of-the-art Solomon Theater to the thrill of competing in one of several on-campus athletic facilities to our expansive Gibbs Family Center for Innovation + Design, St. Martin’s students are given both the opportunities and the support to try new things, expand their horizons, and push themselves beyond what they ever thought possible.
It is the policy of St. Martin’s Episcopal School to administer its educational programs, including admission and financial aid, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin, or disability.
