NOLA’s FIRST Candy Shop :: Laura’s Candies {Three Locations}
Laura’s Candies was established in 1913 at 331 Chartres Street in the heart of the French Quarter. The scrumptious pralines and chocolates are handmade daily with recipes that date back to the 19th century!
When I walked in the doors, my eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas. I walked around the store for at least 15 minutes going “Ooooohhh look at this! Ooooo they have this!” The staff was so kind and patient with me while they described everything and shared their favorite items. I shouldn’t tell you this but… the chocolate covered almonds are a hit. Please save some for me!

Not Just Dessert:
Besides delicious candies, this shop also has other New Orleans gifts as well. I found these adorable door hangers at the Metairie location. There was a small assortment of ornaments, hot sauce, and other New Orleans themed items as well.
Our Favorite:
Our favorites so far are the dark chocolate covered almonds AND the chocolate peanut butter cup. That peanut butter is out of this world! I have no idea how they make it, but my husband keeps going back for more. I’m going to try the peanut butter fudge and Mississippi mud sometime very soon!
