As a mom, you know there are pretty much two types of mom days.
You have the days where you’re a rockstar mom – you wake up before the kids, tackle your to do list, cook a homemade meal and you just ROCKED that day.
And then you have the days where no one makes it out of pajamas and you eat McDonald’s for lunch, and sometimes dinner too. I refer to those as my mom fail days. I very vividly remember one of my mom fail days a few months back.
I was pregnant with our third child and had an OB appointment. I was brave (let’s be honest here – I was stupid) and took the two bigs with me. At least I didn’t have complete pregnancy brain because my son Abram was in his stroller. Mama doesn’t play; he’s a runner! As we were leaving the OB’s office, my daughter Lexi pushed the up button on the elevator on accident. As the elevator going up shows up, I turn around to press the down button. When I turn around to grab Lexi, she’s in the elevator! And then the door closes!! I may have had a mild (or major, but who’s counting) breakdown. Oh my gosh! I have 2 kids and I’m going to have 3 and I JUST LOST ONE ON THE ELEVATOR!
Do I call 911? Do I call security? Do I wait? Do I go up and try to find her? What do I do?!
In the process of all these thoughts and trying to figure out what my next step was, the elevator dings in front of me and out steps Lexi. Relief. That’s all I knew in that moment. I just hugged her and didn’t let her go. And I learned my lesson – don’t bring the bigs with you to your OB appointment. And to also reward yourself after your heart rate goes back to normal.
No matter if you’re having a rockstar mom day or a mom fail day – I’m with you, friends. You’re rocking this mom thing! You’re kids are surviving, they’re beautiful, and they are so lucky to have you. Don’t ever forget that!
