Five Ways to Enjoy 5 Seed Butter by Beyond the Equator

Disclosure :: Beyond the Equator sponsored this post, but any time a local New Orleans company lets us know that they have a product we think local moms should know about then we are all ears. Over five of us (and our kiddos) taste tested the 5 Seed Butter and all opinions are my own.

Five Ways to Enjoy 5 Seed Butter by Beyond the Equator

I think we can all agree that Mardi Gras about does our bodies in when it comes to indulgence and excess. King cake and beer and finger sandwiches and Popeye’s and … yeah, no wonder our collective jeans are a tad tight. Therefore, when I was offered the chance to try Beyond the Equator’s 5 Seed Butter, I jumped at the opportunity. Beyond the Equator is a health-oriented AND local brand, so it’s always neat to check out what entrepreneurs are dreaming up right here in the New Orleans community. If you’re wondering what Seed Butter is, it’s kinda like almond butter or peanut butter only it’s a ::

peanut-free butter created from sunflower seeds, chia seeds, hemp hearts, flax seeds, and pumpkin seeds. The combination of these seeds makes for an allergen-friendly butter that provides a wide variety of health benefits. Processed in a facility free from peanuts, tree nuts, soy, gluten, dairy, egg, and sesame.

I used 5 Seed Butter on everything that I usually put my almond butter on this week, and I was able to maintain quality without sacrificing taste {being a true New Orleanian, I don’t ever sacrifice taste. Ever.}

Here are five ways I enjoyed 5 Seed Butter this week with great results.

Seed Butter On a Banana

The savory flavor of 5 Seed Butter works perfectly with the sweet taste of a banana. I always eat this pairing after a workout or as an after dinner snack when I am craving that “something extra” but trying to resist a poor choice like ice cream. 5 Seed Butter definitely makes me feel better about my food choices because it is paleo friendly, gluten-free and has only eight total ingredients. The good news is that a few of our kids were actually enamored with this pairing as well. Anytime you can steer them away from Jif, well, it’s a win, are we right?

Seed Butter In a Smoothie

For those of us who hopped on the Vitamix wagon and decided we’d learn how to make smoothies at home, 5 Seed Butter is a great way to add protein, vitamins and minerals to a normal fruit and veggie smoothie. It blends well so the smoothie isn’t too thick and 5 Seed Butter did not alter the taste. Pro tip :: a little bit of seed butter does indeed go a far way, and you may need to add liquid to the smoothie to counteract the seed butter’s thick consistency. If you’ve never tried iced coffee in a smoothie, you’re welcome!

Seed Butter On Toast ::

We know, we know. Bread is bad and you’re avoiding it right now. BUT. 5 Seed Butter has the perfect consistency to glide on toast. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top (or don’t) and you’ve got a great, filling and healthy snack. This is also kid-friendly and approved!

Seed Butter On Oatmeal ::

5 Seed Butter goes great on top of instant or steel-cut oatmeal as well. I personally added seed butter {along with stevia and berries} and all of the tastes really complimented each other. Plus, the seed buter added another layer of flavor to my usually somewhat boring oatmeal.

Seed Butter Added to Muffins:

My daughter is a typical kid and not too adventurous when it comes to food. Sometimes, okay all the time, I have to add healthy items to things she normally eats without her knowing. A health stealth attack, if you will. In this case, I added 5 Seed Butter to muffins I made, and low and behold she ate them. Anything that I add to her foods cannot alter taste at all as she can taste when something is off. She could not tell that I put 5 Seed Butter in her muffins instead of our usual almond butter. Score!

5 Seed Butter :: Now a Pantry Staple

I often find myself eating unhealthy foods because frankly, I find that a lot of healthy foods taste gross. I was very happy to find that this was not the case with 5 Seed Butter as it contains multiple layers of flavor and can be added to foods that I already eat. (Beyond the Equator also provides additional recipe ideas on its website.) I find the seed butter similar in texture to organic peanut butter. It does not have the oily layer that my almond butter has so you don’t have to mix it unless you want to. It also is great for those limiting sugar intake because it only has 1 gram of sugar per serving. Finally, 5 Seed Butter is also nut free, gluten-free and GMO free which makes it perfect for families with someone who has a gluten and/or nut allergy.

5 Seed Butter is comparable in price to other seed butters and you can find it at Amazon, Dorignac’s, Canseco’s, New Orleans Breaux Marts and Langenstein’s. 5 Seed Butter will definitely be put in the nut/seed butter rotation at my house. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
