Slim Goodies :: Your New Favorite Family Brunch Spot

We’ve all seen the meme about families having dinner at either 4:00pm or 9:00pm due to extracurricular activities, and it’s funny because it is TRUE. During weekdays, everyone is at school or work and in the evening it is homework, working out, and extracurricular activities. There is not much time spent together as a family to share the ins and outs of our hectic days. For many families, Saturday is the day that most are working on chores and catching up from being busy during the week, that’s if your children are not in club sports. Sunday rolls around and you want to spend quality time together, what do you do? Well, as a New Orleanian, you have to eat, right? My family has started to try new restaurants and this Sunday we tried Slim Goodies on Magazine Street, we will be back.

Nourishment For Our Bellies While We Nourished Our Souls

There is literally something for everyone as the menu encapsulates many breakfast styles of diner food including burgers and last but certainly not least, “dranks.” I ordered the Guatemalan breakfast which is similar to a Belizean breakfast, complete with plantains, so it was right up my alley. Hubby had the Orleans Slammer which was an omelet packed full of breakfast goodies which they tout as a “hangover chaser extraordinaire.” The kids had a fruit bowl and a burger with fries, one a burger aficionado and the other could not wait until breakfast so they had a bowl of fruit.

In true New Orleans fashion, they have a yummy, extensive alcoholic beverage menu. If alcohol is not your thing, cafe’ type coffees, milkshakes, and soft drinks are offered.

Slim Goodies provided the perfect backdrop for us to reconvene as a family and to plan our week ahead.

Fun Atmosphere

There is so much to look at when you sit down, you do not know where to look, whether you sit inside or outside. Inside, you’ll see hundreds of pictures of past customers taped to the walls along with fun, nostalgic items.

Does your family include a 4 legged baby? Yes, you may bring your pup with you and sit outside.

Exceptional Service

Customer Service was the first thing that I noticed when we entered the restaurant and the fact that there was no wait when we arrived was 2 wins for us. When was the last time you walked into a restaurant and there was no wait? Barely ever. We obviously hit an awesome sweet spot with no wait AND we got the only window table in the front room.

The service was exceptional, I accidentally ordered my coffee warm and they were happy to remake the whole drink. The food came out in a timely manner and we were given as much time as needed to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Slim Goodies provided delicious food, a great atmosphere as well as exceptional service. When you are not stressed over the wait, food and service, you are able to enjoy the time spent together which we certainly did and do not take for granted. Not only did we get to slow down, talk and chat but we were able to fuel up for a fun family day.
