Nervous about your little ones returning to school this fall? I completely understand. With fall being here bringing along flu season in the midst of the coronavirus, I’m pretty sure we are all on edge. As mothers, it’s in our nature to worry and want to keep our sweet angels as safe as possible. I wanted to share with you a few tips on how we can protect them.
- We all know wearing a mask correctly above the nose is a must when out in public places.
- Use a lanyard or dress it up with some mardi gras beads, after all this is NOLA so use those beads to hold your child’s mask on them. When it’s time to eat lunch or have a snack you don’t have to worry about it falling on the floor. Make sure to express the importance and proper way to wear the mask above the nose
- Washing our hands for 20 seconds with warm soap and water or using a hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol in it will help until we can reach an area to wash our hands. **This is very important when out in public use the paper towel or drying cloth to open the door so that your not touching it with your freshly clean hands. If you can not find sanitizer you can use rubbing alcohol to make sanitizer wipes. A little goes a long way. You want to pour a good amount of alcohol onto wet wipes and let it soak through. These come in handy and can be thrown in your tote or kept in your car. Don’t forget to moisturize your hands!
- Sit down and TALK with your kids, express how important washing their hands and being aware of their surroundings when out in public.
- Take your child’s temperature in the morning before going to school and log it. If they have a fever or above normal temp, wait a while and take it again. If it’s still too high, DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL. Contact your child’s primary provider and make an appointment immediately. I would suggest notifying the school as well so they can prepare and take proper precautions.
- Tell your kids you love them and you’re so proud of them for understanding and taking those steps to help prevent the spread.
Please remember parents, we lead by example and our babies are watching our every move. Thanks for reading and please share. It may save a life.
