The end of a milestone and the beginning of new adventures
I’ve currently been emotional these past few weeks as we get closer to my daughter’s kindergarten graduation. I’m not as bad as last year, as I was not crying during the cutest presentation of the pre-k ceremony. But my mommy heart is hurting as we are growing and moving on to bigger, better things and challenges. As my daughter and I enter these new stages of life, I want to have a few keepsakes that we can share to hold onto the memories of her younger years. I found a few ideas I would like to start.
Graduation card box
What you will need:
- Card box
- Graduation card or end-of-year card
- Money
- School picture
- Things to decorate the box with
Purchase or make a card at the end of each school year, and get them to sign the card. Place money in the card; I’m doing the age my daughter ends the school year. And the school picture of the year. Give as a memorable high school graduation gift they can open and see how much they’ve changed over the years. And the money can be an extra surprise, that can go towards something fun, books for the first year in college or just to save for something special. Decorate it however you like, I’m using my Cricut machine to put her high school graduation date on it with some of her favorite colors and characters
Graduation T-Shirt
What you will need
- Plan a T-shirt in any color.
- A cutting machine and heat transfer vinyl if you plan to make your own.
- Fabric paint
- The tiny human hands
This one is so fun! Make a shirt with the child’s high school graduation year on the front. On the back put each year K-12 and leave room for them to put their handprint on there and they can wear or frame it after graduation. I got a white T-shirt and black and silver vinyl because I’m not quite sure which high school we will end up going to. So, if you know the school they get the colors of the school to make it more personal.
Art Box
What you will need
- Clear storage box
- File folders
- Things to decorate with
Store all the papers that come home with the kids and place them in the file folders. If you’re like me, you and you don’t want to throw anything away. I’m sure less paper will come home after a certain grade. Then once the time comes when there isn’t much artwork coming home, can send them off to get books made out of the artwork, store them on the bookshelf, or give them as a gift later on.
Place your keepsakes in a space that you will remember at the end of the year to continue the tradition.
These are just some cute traditions that you can start with your kiddos as they grow and watch how excited they will be when they open years from now.
