Dear Ashley Louviere,

We don’t know you, but we feel like we do. We are fellow New Orleans moms, and we are grieving this devastating loss with you.

Because New Orleans is such a “little, big city,” some of us know people who knew or worked with your husband. They are crushed. They have nothing but positive things to say about Michael, and he will be greatly missed.

Someone posted your photo on Facebook just hours after your learned your husband would never be coming home, and seeing your family, we wept. We wept for you, for your children, and for all the wives of law enforcement who feel the fear of uncertainty each time their husband kisses them goodbye, knowing full well they are out there putting their lives on the line to keep other families, families like ours, safe. We are beyond grateful to you, and to all the Law Enforcement Wives

We are so sorry, Ashley. We’re so sorry that we live in a world filled with violence. We’re so sorry that your husband lost his life trying to help someone. We are so sorry for your babies.

Please know, that no matter what divides us, we are a true community of mothers. We are with you. We are here for you. We, as fellow moms of New Orleans are praying for you, thinking of you, and will do anything we can to help you. We will not forget about this once the news cycle changes. We will continue to keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Your husband is a hero. Although nothing we can say will be able to change the unthinkable tragedy which took place, we will continue to remember him, and we are confident that his spirit will live on in you, and in your beautiful children.

All Our Love,

  1. This was so very thoughtful. I live across the street from Mike and Ashley and I know these words mean a lot to her. He was a great man. The best of the best. Father, dad, friend, etc. He will be greatly missed by all and he is and will always be a hero?

    • Please tell her so so sorry for her loss,I am praying every minute for her, those kids,&his family….. I really wish our world was peaceful, and none of this ever had to happen. ….I’m not far I’m in houma, and we are praying for them to get through this and the right words to say to those children. …may he rip…..

  2. Ashley, I do know how you feel, my sweet friend… I lost my husband, a deputy in St. John parish in August of 2012… truth is we will soon be connected… our heros’ names will be not far apart on concrete walls that honor their memory… Anytime there is a Line of Duty death from this day forward, especially when it’s close to home, it will rock your world, as it does mine time and time again. I’ll be meeting you at some point.. until then, my heart is broken with yours… I am so sorry for the loss of your hero.. I am so sorry your kids lost their daddy like my sweet girls did. We find out how amazing our community is in times like these. Thank you for this post and thank you for remembering and honoring our heros.

  3. As I sit here and search for the right words to say, I’m sorry seems so shallow. My heart hurts for you. Please know you are and will be in thought and prayer, always. From this JPSO LEOW.
