Looking Forward to Newborn Snuggles {Waiting for Baby #3}

Baby cuddles. Soft touchable skin. Sweet innocent smiles. These are a few things I’m patiently waiting for as my family countdowns to baby number three. It seems that December is so far away but yet so close; as the weeks go by, I get giddy as my due date approaches.

With my sons being eight and almost five years old, we are truly past the baby stage in our home. There are no playards, swings or bouncers to be found. The baby onesies and sleepers are all packed up. We haven’t bought diapers in years, and the memories of breastfeeding and bottles seem to have happened much longer than just a couple of years ago.feet-619534_1920

I can’t help but smile ear to ear knowing that I’m having another chance to welcome another baby into the world. I always pictured myself as having three children, but at times I didn’t think I would be lucky enough for it to happen. As I sort through saved baby clothes, I get delighted and sentimental that this new baby will be wearing the same clothes that his big brothers and older cousins did.

I get another chance to experience first smiles, first steps and hear a baby mumble “Mommy” for the first time. I’m excited to see how this last puzzle piece will fit in our family. Will he be a rule follower like his oldest brother? Or will he be more of a jokester and funny guy like my middle child? Or will this baby totally be his own self? I look forward to seeing what his temperament will be and how his big brothers will welcome him into our life.

While it’s been 5 years since a newborn has been in our home, I’m super pumped to have a new baby boy to love among my rambunctious crew! I’m enjoying my boys getting older, but there is nothing quite like having a newborn.
