The Mom with Many Hats

I have been a mom for seven years now. I have had many roles during that time from stay at home mom to working mom and now work from home mom. Each one of them has its own pros and cons, and they were each a completely different season. Because of that, there really isn’t one that I can choose as my favorite.

Almost a year ago, we opened our own new business.

I was not expecting it to be nearly as much work as it is. Sure I knew it was going to be work, but it is about twenty times what I imagined. I have had the toughest time doing all.the.things on my plate. I wear many mom hats including homeschooling mom, special needs mom, and stay at home mom (housewife, teacher, chauffeur, maid, chef, you get the idea). Now I was adding work at home mom into the mix. At this same time, I also got the best news that I was going to be a contributor for the blog! So many fun and exciting things and so little time to do them all. I wish I could tell you I had it all together. I have an hourly schedule, my house is clean, my kids are behaved, caught up on school, and rocking this work at home mom gig. Please excuse me while I go laugh myself to death. Hahahaha. I mean really. I am the conductor of the hot mess express. All aboard!

However, this weekend I had a tantrum.

Yes, I am twenty seven years old and still have tantrums. It helps me relate to my kids? We will go with that one. I was telling my husband that I just cannot do it all. I have tried but I am stressed, exhausted, mean, and did I mention stressed? I told him that I needed his help. He needed to take something off my plate. After the most exhausting conversation, we finally figured it out. He would take over cleaning. I SUCK at cleaning (always have, always will) so it was at its absolute worst at this point. My husband is a saint and never mentioned it, though I know it drove him crazy.

Well I am here to report that he has officially taken over the cleaning duties, and I am much less stressed. It has been less than a week, and I wonder why I waited so long to say something! He is a ROCKSTAR. The house is spotless. The kids’ room and playroom are clean. He has kept it up! He straightens up every single night, and I finally have time to get everything caught up and even a little spare time for myself to do whatever.

All of this to say, there is nothing wrong with asking for help. So cleaning may not be my strong suit, and that is okay! Cleaning is my husband’s strong suit and the office side of our business is mine. So we trade. It hasn’t been easy and not always fun, but it is so worth it being able to work next to and with my husband. The kids are thoroughly enjoying Daddy being home more, and so am I.
