Taco Tuesday at Our House

Tacos are one of our favorite meals. They are fast and easy! Between work and homework and extracurriculars, I am always in favor of something that is quick to prepare. At the same time, I don’t love using taco seasoning packets. Years ago, I found this recipe on Skinnytaste and have been using it ever since. It’s also nice that the list of ingredients is things that many of us have in the pantry. I typically don’t have paprika, so I just skip that one. For a healthy version, you can eat it on a bed of lettuce or as lettuce wraps. My kids choose hard tacos or soft tacos and add yummy toppings.

  • 1 pound of ground turkey meat
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 small onion minced
  • 2 tbsp bell pepper minced
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • 4 oz can tomato sauce

Brown onions and bell pepper until soft. Brown turkey meat. Add dry seasoning. Add water and tomato sauce. Cover and simmer on low for 20 minutes. All done! Warm up taco shells or tortillas and add yummy toppings!
