Why You Need an Air Fryer {With Recipes}

Thinking about getting an air fryer or received one as a gift? The air fryer–it’s the greatest gift I ever bought myself. This mini convection oven has saved me time and provided healthier options for dinner.  If you don’t own one you really should, there are many benefits to it.

An air fryer is really a powerful oven that uses air for heat. Because it’s an oven, your food will not come out looking like most fried food, but they will taste the same and, the best part, it is healthier. And it’s super easy to clean.

What can you cook in the air flyer?

Really anything!

Some of the better foods to cook in the air fryer are shrimp, chicken, fish (SN: the Louisiana Fish Fry brand has air fryer seasoning that tastes so good), potatoes, veggies, and frozen foods. I even dehydrate my fruit and herbs in mine (Game Changer). It makes reheating food taste way better than putting it in the microwave.

Recipes:

Air fried donuts

What you’ll need:

½ cup of sugar

1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 can of flaky large biscuits i.e. Pillsbury biscuits

Olive oil or coconut oil spray

4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted

What to do:

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl; set aside.
  2. Remove the biscuits from the can, separate them, and place them on the baking sheet. Use a 1-inch round biscuit cutter (or similarly-sized bottle cap) to cut holes out of the center of each biscuit.
  3. Lightly coat an air fryer basket with olive or coconut oil spray (do not use a nonstick cooking spray such as Pam, which can damage the coating on the basket).
  4. Place 3 to 4 donuts in a single layer in the air fryer (they should not be touching). Close the air fryer and set it to 350°F. Cook, flipping halfway through, until the donuts golden-brown, 5 to 6 minutes total. Transfer donuts place to the baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining biscuits. You can also cook the donut holes — they will take about 3 minutes total.
  5. Brush both sides of the warm donuts with melted butter, place in the cinnamon sugar, and flip to coat both sides. Serve warm.

Soo good! And healthier for you!

Air Fryer Chicken Wings

What You’ll need:

Olive oil cooking spray

2 pounds of chicken wings (I like to split mines apart)

Salt

Unsalted butter

Your favorite wings sauce. (I like a good garlic parmesan or buffalo flavor)

Ranch for dipping

What to do:

The size of the Air Fryer may vary on how many wings to use.

  1. Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set it aside. Pat the chicken wings dry and sprinkle generously with salt. Place the wings in the fryer basket so they are not touching (if necessary, to fit, line up the drumettes standing upright along the sides). Set the air fryer to 360 degrees F and cook for 12 minutes, then flip the wings with tongs and cook for 12 minutes more. Flip the wings again, increase the heat to 390 degrees F and cook until the outsides are extra-crispy, about 6 minutes more.
  2. Meanwhile, warm the butter in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave until melted, about 1 minute. Whisk in the hot sauce.
  3. Toss the wings with the butter mixture to coat in a large bowl and serve with dressing on the side.
