Back in March, which seems like a lifetime ago as much as it feels like yesterday, I decided to focus on my skin care routine which, up until this time, was none. I had a lot of time on my hands, what else was I going to do? So, I went online and did a little research.
Sephora and Ulta became my online besties. But … there are SO MANY PRODUCTS. Where does one even start? I have no knowledge of how to take care of my skin. Cleanse, tone, moisturize, sunscreen, retinol, what order does it go in? Do I tone after I cleanse? Do I even know why I am using a toner? No, I didn’t; I had no idea.
I decided to adopt a routine I found on Pinterest, which is always my go to for pretty much any and all things, recipes, craft idea, etc.
AM Routine
Cleanser: Obviously, this is to clean your face. I knew this one; I did do this on occasion.
Toner: This gets rid of any trace of dirt or grime left behind after you cleanse.
Vitamin C: Like this protects you internally when you take the vitamin, this bad boy does the same thing but for your skin. Helps with wrinkles, sagginess, and dryness.
Moisturize: HYDRATION!!!!!!!!! I think if I could moisturize constantly, I would, but alas, that is not really possible nor ideal.
Sunscreen: Oh sunscreen, you precious precious tool. As an extremely fair person, sunscreen is an absolute must for me.
Makeup: I don’t know if I can even use all my fingers to count the amount of times I have worn makeup since March. It has been kind of nice not having to put my face on every day.
PM Routine:
Remove makeup: When you are in the mood to have your face on, this step is important.
Cleanser: Clean that face girl!
Mask/Exfoliate: I found a cool product here that does both. It is from The Ordinary; I will use this once a week. Do not be scared when you walk around the house and your face is pink. I think I scared my significant other to death!
Toner: Tone it honey, get rid of all the funk you have on your face from the day!
Serums: Lord, this is a lot. I use Retinol on Monday & Friday; Glycolic Acid on Wednesday; Hydraulic Acid every night.
Acne treatment: It is rare I get a pimple, but if I do, it is Differin gel ALL DAY!
Eye Cream: I have not found an eye cream I love, so, I usually don’t use one.
Moisturize: YES! Also, little secret, Vasoline is a great moisturizer.
Lip Mask: I usually will just put a lip balm on.
