Level Up Your Canned Cinnamon Roll Game :: Cinnamon French Toast Bake

In our family, we’re BIG fans of cinnamon rolls.

My kids like them because it’s basically having dessert for breakfast. My husband and I like them because they’re EASY to whip up — they’re pretty effortless to put together and bake quickly.

I usually buy our canned cinnamon rolls from Sam’s in a 4-pack because we make these TikTok cinnamon rolls often and our air fryer cinnamon roll bites have been my kids’ current most requested breakfast.

On a recent trip to Sam’s, I noticed one of the recipes on the back of the cinnamon package was a Cinnamon French Toast Bake that looked really easy to make. I already had all the ingredients at home, so I knew that would be a recipe to try that upcoming weekend.

And it didn’t disappoint! This is so quick and easy to assemble and tastes like the love child of cinnamon rolls and pancakes. 10/10 recommend!

From the suggested recipes on a Sam’s Club package of Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls

1/4 cup butter
2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
6 eggs
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup maple or pancake syrup
Powdered sugar
1/2 cup maple syrup, if desired

  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Place butter into ungreased 13 x 9“ glass baking dish and microwave to melt butter.
  • Separate cans of dough into 16 rolls. Cut each roll into 8 pieces. Place pieces over butter and dish.
  • In a medium bowl, beat eggs. Beat in heavy cream, cinnamon, and vanilla until well blended. Gently pour over roll pieces.
  • Sprinkle with pecans, drizzle with one cup syrup.
  • Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until golden Brown. Cool 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, remove covers from icings and microwave on medium (50%) power for 10 to 15 seconds or until thin enough to drizzle. Drizzle icing over top.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve with additional syrup. (For us, it is enough to spoon syrup from the baking dish over individual servings.)
