Yes, the Westbank has good restaurants.
The Westbank is not as bad as everyone makes it seems. It’s not that far from most places, and we have many restaurants and things on the Westbank that other areas do not have.
A few good hidden gems that the Westbank has are good sushi restaurants!
I love a good sushi roll! With so many places to go to in the Greater New Orleans area, I also have a few faves that are well worth a trip to the BestBank!
Fuji Hanna
One place that I highly recommend is Fuji Hanna. Located on Behrman Highway in Gretna, this is one of the must-go-to places on the Westbank. They have the best sushi and hibachi on this side of the river. Perfect for date nights, birthday dinners, or just a girl’s night out. Not just for adults but for kids as well, and most of you all know, I have a super picky eater, I took her there one day with some friends and she ate the soup AND noodles. I was so shocked, I literally screeched with joy. The sushi is fresh, and you can taste the love that the chef puts into them with every bite. Also, be sure to try the Westbank roll!
Nobuko
Other than Fuji Hanna, you should try another place with great fresh sushi on the Westbank, Nobuko. Located on the busy strip of Manhattan in Harvey, this recently discovered place put a lasting impression on me. The fast service and delicious sushi are good reasons for a return from me. Not sure if this one is child friendly, because I went without my little one, but this cozy place is perfect for a romantic date night.
Tokyo Sushi House
And another good place with amazing sushi at a cheaper price point is Tokyo Sushi House this is one of my absolute favorites. you can find the restaurant on Lapalco in Marrero. Between the sushi and the General Tso chicken, this one is the best. They typically serve a variety of Asian cuisine so no matter what you’re in the mood for they have. The place is family owned and you can see the little ones always there helping with customers, and cleaning. They are also very personable and have great conversations with you while you wait to be seated. Tokyo Sushi house is one of my top faves to go to. Out of all the others, this is the best. Also, don’t forget to try the Pink Lady Roll, you won’t regret it.
Tennou Sushi Bar
Tennou is a quant little place in Harvey just in the center of Manhattan. The small intimate restaurant serves very fresh sushi and great hibachi for the perfect date night. The staff is super friendly and the prices are reasonable. My suggestion is to ask for the New Orleans roll. You will thank me later.
Daiwa
The perfect place for dates, events, or parties. Daiwa is a little more upscale (in my opinion) than the others on this list. The pretty decor and setting make you feel cozy as you dine on some delicious rolls that are handcrafted to perfection.
There are so many other places I highly recommend, but these are just a few. So if you ever find yourself on my side of the river, look me up, and let’s get some sushi. It’s well worth the trip.
