What to Drink at a Brewery When You Don’t Like Beer

So, you don’t like beer? Same here! Yet somehow, breweries keep popping up as the hangout spot. I’ve been to my fair share of breweries over the years, usually for events or family-friendly meetups, and I’ve actually come to enjoy these visits—despite not being a beer fan. If you’re like me, you might wonder, “What exactly am I supposed to drink here?” Many breweries focus exclusively on beer, often with limited or no options for other alcoholic drinks. But after some time exploring, I’ve found a few solid alternatives that make breweries fun even without the beer. Here are my top picks!

  • Non-Alcoholic Craft Beers

Non-alcoholic drinks are trending, and I am here for it! If you’re okay with beer’s flavor but don’t want the alcohol, you’re in luck. Breweries are getting creative with non-alcoholic options that give you the same taste minus the buzz.

  • Sparkling Water

Almost every brewery has sparkling water—often in unique flavors. Some even brew their own, with fun flavor options. It’s light, refreshing, and a step up from plain water.

  • Craft Sodas

Many breweries that make their own beer also whip up small batches of craft soda. These often come in flavors like root beer, cream soda, or ginger beer. They’re tasty, bubbly, and fun for both adults and kids.

  • Shrubs or Kombucha

Shrubs (those fancy, fruity, vinegar-based drinks) and kombucha are popular brewery additions. If you find a brewery offering either of these, definitely give them a try—they bring a funky twist that’s worth asking about.

  • Iced Tea or Lemonade

You can’t go wrong with iced tea or lemonade, especially on a warm day. If you’re lucky, you might find a location offering a fun flavor twist like lavender lemonade or sweet tea.

  • Hot Coffee or Tea

In the colder months, a warm cup of coffee or tea can be the perfect alternative. Some breweries offer these options, and they’re perfect for a cozy drink while everyone else sips their beer.

  • BYOB (Bring Your Own Beverage)

If the brewery allows it, just bring your own drink in your favorite thermos.

  • Enjoy the Food!

Breweries are famous for their snack menus and rotating food trucks. If all else fails, dive into the food options. Great food can make the experience just as enjoyable as any drink.

The brewery scene is a vibe, and there’s no reason to skip it just because beer isn’t your thing. So, pick your favorite option to try and cheers to having a great time with or without the beer!
