Healthy Meals Delivered to Your New Orleans Doorstep

Motherhood is incredibly rewarding, but rarely would we describe it as “easy.” The demands on our time are endless, and it generally feels impossible to catch up or get it all done. Even in quarantine, it seems that the elusive white space we were promised has been immediately filled with homeschool projects, Zoom calls, never-ending work emails and even birthday part parades. Life is beyond overwhelming right now, and very few moms are in the mood to meal plan, cook or think about how to eat clean.

Thankfully, a brilliant local mom anticipated this need years ago and has  taken all of the stress out of healthy meal prep. While there are many delivery boxes that provide all of the ingredients to make dinner (and we’re a fan of those, too), what really sets locally-owned Clean Creations apart is that it eliminates the need to prep, chop OR cook. Ready made, healthy and, yes, delicious, meals are delivered directly to your doorstep. No pots, no pans, no oven timers. All you have to do is heat … and enjoy.

The New Orleans Mom Behind Clean Creations

Barbara Bolotte Blank conceptualized and launched Clean Creations when she was just 23 years old (impressive, right?). As she recalls, her work experience to that point consisted primarily of working in restaurants and managing a gym. While it was certainly a leap of faith to start a business, she is thankful and glad that she made the jump at such a young age. Many people doubted her, going as far as to say that she’d never make it, but 9 years later it is clear that Clean Creations was at the forefront of one of the fastest growing industries in the country!

Prior to launching Clean Creations, Barbara was a personal trainer and IFBB Pro Bikini Competitor. Very quickly she identified an emerging trend; while her clients were extremely dedicated to workouts and exercise, they rarely saw their desired results because they lacked time (sound familiar, moms?) and options for clean eating. As part of her competition prep, Barbara remembers, “I was always preparing my food and portioning everything out for competition prep, so I offered to do the same for a few of my clients. Word traveled quickly and before I knew it, I had 10 regular customers ordering food from me weekly!”

Clean Creations has now been operating for 9 years in the New Orleans area, and like most small businesses, it has evolved drastically over the years. Back in the day, the team literally vacuum sealed each meal by hand with a food saver machine (Barbara laughs, saying she currently cringes at the thought of this). Barbara and her now husband, then boyfriend, Dean, were personally cooking everything in their kitchen, loading it into their cars and delivering in the evenings. It was truly a labor of love inspired by the desire to make healthy eating easier for New Orleans residents.

What started as a basic but brilliant idea for healthy meal prep in New Orleans has grown into a full blown operation, complete with a commercial facility in which every item is cooked from scratch by an executive chef and culinary team. Clean Creations plates, packages and loads every meal in its cold kitchen space, which is a giant refrigerated warehouse. Of course, you may wonder, “if the food is healthy, does it taste good?,” and the answer is a resounding yes. We have taste tested many of the meals over the years, and we’re routinely impressed with the flavor and portions.

As of May 2020, the team is delivering roughly 4,000 meals per week to the New Orleans, Metairie and North Shore area. In the meantime, Barbara and Dean have grown not only their business but also their family, welcoming a precious baby girl, Elle, in February 2018. Barbara shares that while she has always been incredibly dedicated to their business, becoming a mother has “taken my dedication to a whole other level.” Raising a daughter in New Orleans inspires Barbara to grow the Clean Creations brand as much as she can to ensure that Elle has every opportunity to succeed as well.

Save Yourself Time, Eat Well And Support Local

Now, more than ever, is the time to support New Orleans based businesses. Barbara is fully transparent that running a company amidst a pandemic is challenging. Food safety has always been Clean Creations’ top priority but dealing with this pandemic has made it even more crucial. Even though it required acting fast to implement new protocols to keep employees and customers safe, Clean Creations has successfully remained open through COVID-19. Barbara feels a deep sense of responsibility to keep the New Orleans community healthy, and she’d love for your family to be part of that vision.

We know that – at least in our own homes – getting to the grocery store, thinking about meals and cooking is absolutely exhausting, especially on top of homeschooling and playing referee and trying to keep up with work demands. Clean Creations literally solves the mealtime problem for you, and in choosing to use their services you are also supporting a local family. We also think Clean Creations is the perfect Mother’s Day gift for any hard-working mom in New Orleans right now. When in doubt, get mom a gift card!

How Does Clean Creations Work?

  • If you simply want to taste the food, you can always “Grab and Go.” Clean Creations has a physical location in Gretna, open 7 days a week, with ready made items for pick up. If you want food delivered directly to your doorstep, though….
  • Hope online to browse the plans and options {you can either choose your own meals OR Clean Creations will do it for you from that week’s menu; you can also choose the number of people you are feeding and for how many meals per day}
  • Place your order {the ordering window for Sunday delivery closes on Wednesday at Noon. Orders placed between Wednesday at 12:01PM and Saturday at midnight will be delivered the following Wednesday}
  • Wait for the magic to happen – meals will be labeled and pre-portioned and you reheat in the containers (which you can toss after)
  • Do I have to be home? No! Clean Creations deliveries have always been contact free, socially distant and convenient. All delivery customers are required to rent a cooler bag. This is a 1 time rental fee and is refundable (less a $10.00 pick up fee) if you decide to discontinue service. Customers who opt for pickup, are NOT required to rent a cooler bag.
