What is Zoo-To-Do for Kids Raising Money For?
This year, your tickets to Zoo-To-Do for Kids presented by Children’s Hospital New Orleans will help further critical conservation work for spider monkeys.
“The spider monkey troop at Audubon Zoo is a long-time favorite for our guests,” said Audubon Nature Institute President and CEO Ron Forman. “Expanding their habitat will give them more room to explore and provides guests more opportunities to learn about these animals.”
Spider monkeys are listed as an endangered species by the International Union of Conservation of Nature (ICUN) Red List of Threatened Species. In just the last 45 years, the number of spider monkeys in the wild has dropped by 50%, and they are in danger of going extinct in the near future.
“Audubon Nature Institute’s mission is to inspire visitors to make a positive impact on nature and wildlife, educating millions of people annually about species like spider monkeys and their importance in the wild,” continued Forman. “Each of us can take steps in our own lives to make positive impacts that help the environment. Your support of our Zoo-To-Do events will help safeguard the future of these vital species.”
