Date Night in New Orleans :: DrinkLab NOLA

Date Night in New Orleans :: DrinkLab NOLA

Since the pandemic, I feel like I have turned into a homebody even more than I was before. If I stay home, I don’t spend money on unnecessary things, right? Now that events are picking back up, I wanted to plan a little date night for my significant other and me. There are a bunch of things we can do, but I wanted to do something I have never done before, and that was attend a cocktail mixing class.

While scouring the internet, I came across, DrinkLab NOLA. They are off of Baronne, which I know some people do not like to go into the city, but this was totally worth it. We attended the Classic New Orleans Cocktails class, which consisted of making the Sazerac, Gin Fizz, and the Hurricane. Everything was set up for us when we arrived, and I mean everything. All the ingredients, tools, liquor, etc. to make the class simple and fun.

The teacher at the front of the room gave history on each drink and walked through how to create each one with no worry of totally messing it up. The Gin Fizz takes about 10 minutes to shake, to say my arms were sore is an understatement, but it was my favorite of the cocktails we made.

DrinkLab NOLA is also perfect for Bachelor or Bachelorette Parties, Girl’s Nights, or any birthday celebration. They offer other classes as well, but they have not opened them back up since the pandemic. They also offer The Makings of Mixology, Wine Tasting Enthusiast, and Bourbon Whiskey Tastings.

Do you have any date night suggestions or something you have wanted to try? I am always open to fun things to do around town now that we are getting back to “normal” in New Orleans.
