My Secret to Fitting in All the Holiday Fun

The holidays are my absolute FAVORITE time of the year, as I’m sure is the case for many other people as well. There is just something magical about the time between Halloween and Christmas, especially the month of December.

If you’re like me, you want to fit in as much holiday fun as you can. Santa visits, holiday parties, Celebration in the Oaks, literally anything related to Christmas … mentally I’m checking to see if we’ll be able to make it. Here’s the thing though, you can’t do ALL THE THINGS. It’s the same as in any aspect of life. You can’t be in two places at once, and often there is more than one holiday festivity happening at the same time, with mostly everything being crammed in to the last month of the year.

With that being said, here’s my secret to fitting in all the holiday fun:

You won’t be able to, and that’s okay. Do you think my kids are going to remember that we didn’t go get pictures with Santa at a holiday tea at a beautiful hotel this Christmas? NO. This will be my 4th Christmas with children (as I’m typing that I can’t believe we’ve already had babies for FOUR years!) and I’ve learned that I end up stressing myself out about missing out on something. When you don’t try to go to EVERY. SINGLE. holiday event, you can focus on really being present and enjoying the ones you are able to go to.

One of our favorite traditions as a family has been to go to Celebration in the Oaks, something I’ve been going to since I was a little kid. Last year it was so fun to go with both of our babies, and it’s something we’ve decided is a priority to go to this holiday season. All the lights, the train ride, the Christmas spirit! It’s one of my favorite events of the season.

There are SO many other events I would love to go to this year. We’ll definitely try to go to some, but I’ll always have to remind myself that we won’t be able to make them all, and that’s okay. Once we find our favorites, we’ll make those a priority during the holidays.

I’d love to know, what’s your family’s favorite holiday events to go to?

What events do you prioritize during the Christmas season?
