Sooo, it’s time for the Christmas tree to go! But where should it go? Don’t worry, each year, Christmas trees are repurposed to help with Louisiana’s coastal restoration. There are various locations of need and each parish contributes. If you want to donate your tree for this purpose, it must be bare of any ornaments, tinsel, decorations or lights. Only green, natural, unflocked trees can be recycled; artificial, flocked or painted trees will not be picked up. Please see the list below for your parish and use that leftover Christmas spirit for a great cause!
Jefferson Parish
Per the Jefferson Parish website, “Christmas trees will be collected curbside throughout unincorporated Jefferson Parish, Gretna, Harahan, Kenner, Lafitte and Westwego and will be recycled to nourish shoreline protection along Goose Bayou in the Town of Lafitte. Residents are advised to place trees curbside on the evening of Wednesday, January 9, 2019. Garbage trucks will make one pass through each neighborhood to collect trees on the 10th, 11th and 12th of January. For more information, call 504-731-4612, or visit their website HERE
Orleans Parish
Orleans Parish will also be picking up Christmas Trees from January 10th – 12th. Residents should place their natural, unflocked trees on the curb for pick-up. Please do not place them on the neutral ground.
St. Tammany Parish
In St. Tammany Parish, trees can be dropped off, after Christmas, at two different locations. The St. Tammany Parish Fairgrounds (515 N. Florida St., Covington) or at the Old Levee Board Property (61134 Military Road, Slidell). For more information, see this article HERE.

Will conduct curbside pick-up on January 10, 17 & 24th.
St. Bernard Parish
Will conduct curbside pick-up January 7-11th.

407 Highway 22 W in Madisonville through Jan 31st from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Middendorf’s Restaurant in Manchac will be accepting trees starting January 4th.
