The Stroller Every New Orleans Mom Needs

Disclosure :: Britax sponsored this post. Thanks to the generosity of our partner 5 different Louisiana moms had the chance to try out the new wheels and all of us agreed that this stroller is one we can enthusiastically endorse. All opinions expressed below are my own.

The Stroller Every New Orleans Mom Needs

Let’s talk baby and toddler gear. First off, there are so many things and brands to choose from, and it’s plain overwhelming. Do you need a diaper pail? Sound machine? Wipe warmer? (For me it’s a :: No. Yes! Preferably.) That said, one totally non negotiable baby item, particularly in a city like New Orleans where we spend so much time outdoors, is a stroller. Mom of three here reporting that you can own nothing else for your child, but you will absolutely need a stroller for sure! If you’re a New Orleans mom you’ll also want it to be a good one loaded with lots of practical features for our unique outdoor and festival lifestyle.

The Stroller Versus Mardi Gras

When attempting Mardi Gras with three small kids in tow a few things are certain:

1. You will need lots of snacks

2. You will need to pack up the entire house before you leave for the day

3. Someone will be missing nap time

4. Regardless of whether you choose the sidewalk or neutral ground side, you will encounter more than your fair share of potholes, uneven sidewalks, and various terrains on your way to the perfect spot

5. It might be hot or really really cold

In awesome news, the Britax B-Free stroller has a solution for it all and we’ve decided it’s a stroller all New Orleans moms should consider!

Snacks :: The Stroller With ALL the Storage

The Britax B-Free stroller has no shortage of pockets … it comes equipped with seven pockets to be exact. Two of these pockets are located inside each side of the seat itself, which is perfect for snack and drink storage and easy access for your growing little one. The basket below the seat is also very large and was able to hold everything I needed to pack for our day out on the parade route. Another one of our writers even stuffed an entire case of La Croix in that space, just to give you an idea of how large it is!

Packing the Entire House

When it comes to Mardi Gras and/or festival season, the list is nearly endless of what you need to pack :: snacks, drinks, diapers, wipes and extra changes of clothes. The Britax B-Free not only has enough space to store all the things, it has seven different pockets to keep everything organized. There are several zip pockets, which are perfect for your cell phone and wallet while out on the parade route. For whatever reason that zipper is the extra amount of security we need as moms to know that most likely our belongings will be safe.

Missing Nap Time

There is one skill every New Orleans baby must learn. It’s a right of passage, really. Despite the loud noises and constant commotion, NOLA babies must learn to nap on the parade route. The Britax B-Free is so great for napping on the go. The infinite recline feature is perfect for a sleeping babe. The seat will lay almost totally flat plus it offers an infinite recline unlike a lot of other strollers on the market, so you can make that kiddo as comfortable as possible. Thanks to this stroller my baby took several great naps while we were out at parades, which is a huge lifesaver since her big brothers weren’t going to agree to head home.

NOLA Terrain

I know that all of my parading mamas can relate to trying to pull an ice chest or wagon, or push a stroller totally loaded down with all the stuff you need. The Britax B-Free stroller is perfect for all types of road conditions, including those pesky New Orleans pot holes and oak tree sidewalk buckles. There are three rubber wheels, which means you’ll never have to worry about a flat tire or inflating them. At the same time, you’ll still get a super smooth ride which means not waking the happily snoozing baby. The front wheel can swivel OR lock, offering both agility and stability depending on where you’re pushing the stroller. The broken sidewalks and potholes of Uptown were a breeze with the front wheel locked, and I had no issues pushing the stroller in front of me and pulling the ice chest behind me. Yes, I am a NOLA mom boss.

Weather Problems

I’m pretty sure we can all recall a Mardi Gras where we were in shorts and yet another Carnival season where there weren’t enough layers and booze to keep us warm. Sometimes you’ll find both scenarios within one day out on the parade route, am I right? Let me tell you about one of my favorite features of the Britax B Free; it has an enormous canopy. There is a hidden zipper that lets you open the canopy to cover almost the entire seat. It protects from UV rays, wind, rain and flying beads. Plus on top of the canopy there is peek-a-boo window that allows for extra air-flow and has a magnetic closure, which is wonderful. The massive canopy is also super helpful during nap time.

So if you’re looking for the perfect Mardi Gras and festival stroller, I could not recommend the Britax B-Free more. No doubt it will also make the perfect Jazz Fest stroller, trip to the zoo stroller, running around the mall stroller, and everything else in between.
