Learn CPR With Our Team: Coffee, Conversation and Family & Friends CPR Class at Touro Infirmary {Event Announcement}

Disclosure: Thank you to our sponsors Touro Infirmary and Creative Sitters who have been kind enough to partner with us as well as The American Heart Association of New Orleans to make this event happen.

It seems that so many tragedies have happened to small children and their families as of late. It could be that we are all more tuned in due to social media now, or maybe it is because we have children ourselves, but every time we hear of something tragic our team FEELS for that family. In an effort to be more knowledgeable and prepared for emergency situations ourselves, as well as to offer a chance for other moms to feel the same, we have partnered with Touro Infirmary, The American Heart Association of New Orleans and Creative Sitters to provide a “Mom Friendly” CPR class, which will include a light breakfast (coffee, muffins, pastries and fruit) and childcare (to a limited number of children over age 2). Last but not least, all of the education and fun will be captured through the lens of Studio 337 Photography.

Please join us for coffee, conversation and a Family and Friends Infant/Child CPR class

Who :: Any mom in the greater New Orleans area that would like to increase her knowledge about potentially life saving techniques.

What :: The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only® CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides touro-cpr-squarestudents with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.  Participants will practice on infant manikins as well and a large child/adult manikin. Participants will receive a handbook and a dvd.

When :: Tuesday, June 3 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Where :: Touro Infirmary. The CPR class will take place in the Foucher Room on the 2nd Floor of the hospital. Childcare will be provided in the room next door (sign up in advance is necessary and childcare space is limited. Children must be 2 or older to qualify for this complimentary service.). Attendees can park in either the Delachaise or Prytania Street Parking Garages and bring their parking tickets with them to be validated for free parking.

How :: We understand that as mothers sometimes there are childcare challenges associated with attending classes such as this. For this reason, our sponsor Creative Sitters will be on hand in a conference room next door for childcare. Creative Sitters childcare providers are background checked and CPR certified themselves, so rest assured your children are in very safe hands. Childcare is first come, first serve and only available to the first 12 children. All children must be over the age of two. All children must be signed up in advance HERE.

Cost :: This class costs $10 and includes breakfast, coffee and free childcare (if applicable and available).

Please click HERE to sign up to reserve your space!

No tickets will be sold at the door, and you must be registered to attend (so we can plan effectively).

Disclaimers: ALL TICKET SALES ARE FINAL. NO REFUNDS. NO RAIN CHECKS. We will do our best to assist you in finding another mom to exchange/give/or sell your ticket if the need arises and/or if time allows. Additionally, everyone that purchases a ticket will be subscribed to our email list (if they have not been already) in order to provide the most timely and up to date event info. Photos will be taken at the event and of attendees for use on the blog and on social media.

    • We will see how this one goes with regards to popularity and go from there – we try to accommodate everyone but this one just so happened to work out for a weekday morning. Some of our readers – when able – also take a few hours away from work if there’s something they’re interested in. We realize that may not be possible for you but just a thought since it would require 2.5 hours total away. Either way we will definitely consider it for the future!

  1. I would love to attend, but my baby isn’t old enough for the childcare. Please offer again on a weekend or weeknight!!
    Thank you!
