BOTOX: Top Tips For Getting the “Tox”

Disclosure :: No, you do not need BOTOX. No, I am not recommending BOTOX. No, I am not a medical professional. BUT, if you decide you want it or that you are unhappy with the fine lines around your eyes when you smile or a furrowed brow (thank you children). Here is what I think you should know!

BOTOX: Top Tips For Getting the “Tox”

BOTOX: All Your Questions Answered

Find a Medical Professional You Trust to Inject You With Botox

No one wants to end up like the girl on Instagram with one wonky eye. There can be very real repercussions from getting BOTOX from someone who is not extremely skilled. Find someone who is educated, who does this regularly and who can show you fantastic results by way of other client images.

Decide What Bothers You About Your Face Before You Show Up For Botox

I also recommend finding someone who will ask you what YOU want. Beauty is the eye of the beholder. Perhaps your crows feet bother you – or perhaps you really just want to eliminate that pesky wrinkle from the top of your forehead. The PA where I went to go for BOTOX the first time said, “Tell me what you see and what you would like to fix.” I so appreciated that opportunity and invite and felt in control.

Decide What Brand of Tox You Would Like

There are a couple different kinds of treatments that your injector may offer you (BOTOX, Dysport, and the new to the market DAXXIFY etc). Some work quicker than others, some last longer than others and some are cheaper than others. Price can also be dependent on your specific practitioner. It was explained to me that every practice buys more of one specific treatment and that option is often the cheapest.

How Bad is the Pain When Getting BOTOX?

I hate the cliche that it is painful to be beautiful. It’s darn true in this instance. Watching on Instagram I had the misconception due to the blebs that form that perhaps it was just a sub-q (nurse talk for “just under the skin”) injection. Not true – they really do JAB you in the muscle. It is quick though and then it is over!

Post “Tox” BOTOX Tips

My injector was very clear that the main rules were to not lay down for four hours and no strenuous exercise for the rest of the day. Other than that it was business as usual and though I was a bit red with some small holes from the needle – I do not think anyone would notice. I was also told that things would feel “funny” as they started to settle in after the first time receiving injections. They certainly did! I will also warn you that one eye brow was more effected than the other which is why the “courtesy” touch ups done in a follow up appointment two weeks later were really important! Pro- tip: Do not skip your follow up if you are unhappy with your results. At my specific practitioners office, the follow up (and added product) was FREE.

Do you have any other tips we should add? Tricks we should know about? Where did you get your Botox?
