Melt Your Mom Stress Away With Akashic Reiki

When we first started chatting with David from Akashic Reiki, we honestly weren’t certain what to think about the practice of Reiki itself. Most of us had never heard of it. As we researched thisAkashic Reiki Collage ancient practice, we were intrigued by the fact that David uses Reiki and other natural therapies “to assist in restoring balance, in all aspects of your life, in the service of the highest good.” Sounds too good to be true, right? We are thrilled to say that it’s absolutely not!

None of us on the New Orleans Moms Blog team had ever experienced Reiki, and there isn’t much “mainstream knowledge” of the practice itself. Open minded mamas that we are, we enthusiastically agreed to David’s offer to treat us to this practice on a complimentary basis. After all, those of us with small children can all use some restoration and balance in our lives, right?! While this is a sponsored post, we are here to tell you that Reiki may just be the solution to your daily struggles; read below for not one but three of our contributors’ personal experiences with Reiki.

What is Akashic Reiki?

Before we delve into our contributors’ experiences, we thought you could use a more official description of what Akashic Reiki is. Akashic Reiki is an alternative therapy practice combining discussion and guided meditation. Energy healing sessions, tailored to meet the individual needs of each client, help clients feel more content, calm and peaceful. Discussion is used to engage the active mind, addressing issues from a more spiritual perspective rather than a clinical one. Clients are given practical tools and strategies to empower themselves. Guided meditation is used to help clients find their own answers to questions. Energy healing works with the subconscious mind, which is where an estimated 90% of problems generally lie. Clients report feeling incredibly relaxed and may experience subtle but profound shifts in their challenges and issues.

Myndee :: I Just Feel Better

Before attending my Reiki session, I admittedly knew little to nothing about the practice. I thought about researching beforehand, but I decided to just go in with no preconceived notions. I have always been open to alternative care, whether it is chiropractic, homeopathic or even hypnosis (which was very helpful during labor). Reiki, though, seemed a bit out of my comfort zone. Still, the Reiki practitioner came highly Reikirecommended, and I knew there was no harm in just trying it out. When I arrived, David was warm and friendly. He sat down with me and we began to chat. He asked a few simple questions, and I unloaded on him! I started talking about things I didn’t even realize were bothering me. This part of the session was part therapy, part coffee talk with an old friend. He was helpful and non-judgmental, he gave me practical advice, and he recommended a couple of books I might be interested in reading.

After the chat, I laid back on the table for the remainder of the session. He led a guided meditation, and within a few minutes, the entire hour had passed! I sat up feeling more confident, relaxed and more comfortable in my own skin. I don’t know how, though! I did not go in there expecting that. I just know that’s how I felt after it was over. All the stress and cares I walked in with did not walk out with me. I have already told my friends that they all need to try this, and I will be booking a follow up appointment soon. When explaining it, I found myself saying, “I just feel BETTER. I don’t know how or why, but I feel better.” If you need to feel better, definitely give Reiki a try.

Angelina :: The Stress Just Melted Away

The week my Reiki session was scheduled, I almost cancelled. I was in the process of moving, had just returned from a work conference for three days, was in a car accident the week prior, my godmother and uncle suffered a major car accident and my grandmother was in the hospital. All of these things happened within a two week period, and I was very stressed to say the least. Something told me to go anyway, and I was hoping it would clear my head. I later realized it was perfect timing.

I was excited to try Reiki since my aunt and cousin both had tried it with positive experiences. I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect, but I was a bit skeptical. When we first began, it seemed somewhat of a therapy session. Since I was under so much stress at the time, I was close to crying when David asked me how I was feeling about certain things. By the end of our talk he had given me some good tips on dealing with stress in my daily life.

Afterwards I laid on a table, closed my eyes, and he took me through guided meditation, picturing myself in serene and calming environments. It was really hard for me to clear my head, similar to what I go through with yoga. “Did I turn off my flat iron? I hope Jude eats his lunch today. I have so many emails to read. I need to implement one of the million new ideas in my head at work.” The thoughts go on and on. I admit when I started hearing snapping and he placed his hands on my head I thought, “What on earth is this going to do? This is strange and so not going to work.” After some time I relaxed and gave in to the idea. When my session was over, I was surprisingly calm and happy. The stress had seemed to just melt away, leaving me completely calm. It was surreal; I was shocked at how effective this session was. I’ve recommended it to others since then, and I definitely plan to go back.

Andie :: I Felt Incredibly Refreshed and Positive

I went into Reiki with no expectations but a hope that maybe I could learn some techniques to help me manage my anxiety and the hurried state that I have been experiencing lately. I wasn’t sure what to expect.
Upon meeting David, I was immediately put at ease. We chatted for a bit and then he did the Reiki session. I began breathing slowly and relaxing to a point where I was awake but dreaming and I felt my worries and stress melt away. When we were done, I felt incredibly refreshed and positive about what life had in store for me. He gave me many tips about how to relax while dealing with everyday stress. Ever since our session, I am more positive and content. I think that speaks loudly as to the power of Reiki!

  1. I have heard of reiki, but am not familiar with all the practices. The post was informative and made me want to see what it’s all about. I’m all for stress relief!

  2. I have heard of Reiki a way before I had kids but had forgotten about it. This is something I am definitely interested in, and maybe a better plan for finding balance and peace, than my previous goal of just finding time to get a pedicure.
