5 Things Moms Should Know about What’s Happening at Children’s Hospital New Orleans
1) Campus Expansion Project
We’re transforming pediatric healthcare in Louisianawith a $300 million campus expansion project currently underway. It is an unprecedented time at Children’s Hospital as we build our future with an inspired vision and campus transformation that will poise New Orleans to become a national leader in the specialized healthcare of kids.
As we approach the halfway point in our campus transformation project in August, it’s amazing to see our new health campus coming to life. Children’s Hospital’s transformed campus will include 235,000 square feet of new clinical care space, enabling the expansion of our signature service lines – cardiac intensive care, cancer care, surgery and peri operative services, emergency and trauma care, neonatal and pediatric intensive care, and behavioral health.
2) Patient and Family First
With phase one of our transformation now complete, we’ve opening a new 600-car parking garage and skybridge that connect to our light-filled Lauricella Pavilion, a welcoming, kid-friendly registration point for all outpatient clinics. In October 2018, we also opened the Hogs for the Cause Family Center, on campus accommodations for families in need, featuring 12 family suites, 2 family lounges, kitchen spaces and laundry.
3) Healthcare with Heart
LCMC Health is a New Orleans-based, non-profit health system on a mission to provide the best possible care for every person and parish in Louisiana and beyond, and to put a little more heart and soul into healthcare along the way. And that means we do things a little differently! Treating people like family is the LCMC Health way, and it always has been. Founded by Children’s Hospital, LCMC Health has grown into a healthcare system that’s built to serve the unique needs of our communities and families.
4) Close to Home
5) Virtual Care
Virtual Care connects pediatric patients across the state to our robust network of Primary Care providers and our highly trained pediatric specialists and subspecialists all through a secure video connection. This technologyenhances the quality of care and the patient’s experience while maintaining an accessible and lasting personal relationship with the Children’s Hospital pediatric healthcare team.
Currently, we have 14 specialties providing online visits with Children’s Hospital providers, as well as urgent care virtual visits from 8 am to 10 pm. These urgent care visits are scheduled with a Children’s Hospital pediatrician that patients can also visit at the River Ridge clinic or Metairie After Hours clinic if additional care is needed.
