5 Things You Should Know About “Mommy Makeovers”

Mommy makeovers are one of the most popular procedures performed by plastic surgeons. As beautiful as pregnancy can be, it can truly take a toll on a woman’s body.  Even with a perfect diet and daily exercise, there may still be problem areas. The fact is, there are some things that diet and exercise cannot fix. That’s why mommy makeovers exist.5 Things You Should Know About "Mommy Makeovers"

Mommy Makeovers are Individualized Procedures

Many people are misinformed about what a mommy makeover is. It is not a cookie-cutter procedure. Before meeting with a plastic surgeon, one needs to identify the areas that concern them the most and focus on addressing them. While postpartum women are usually more concerned that their breasts are drooping or that their abdomen is no longer flat, there are many other areas that can be troublesome: flanks, arms, thighs as well as enlarged labia. Mommy makeovers offer a personalized spectrum of procedures tailored to one’s specific needs. It is an individualized combination of breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, tummy tuck, repair of rectus diastasis, liposuction, labiaplasty, arm lift, thigh lift, buttock augmentation and/or fat grafting. Everyone is unique. A skilled plastic surgeon will help one achieve the best possible outcome.

Mommy Makeovers Aren’t About Giving In or Giving Up

It’s ok to want to look good again. After all, women put on makeup and wear cute clothes to look great and feel sexy. Mommy makeover is the opportunity to take back control. Many women are self-conscious when it comes to wearing a bathing suit or even undressing in front of their spouse because they are unhappy with their breasts or excess abdominal skin and fat. These are taboo feelings that women often keep to themselves. Mommy makeover can help restore that lost intimacy and boost self-confidence. It’s ok to want to look and feel your best.

Mommy Makeovers are Not a Weight Loss Surgery

There is no substitute for healthy living. Diet and exercise are the keys to weight control and positive self-image. Plastic surgery is meant to help with problem areas, not to make up for unhealthy habits. While liposuction can remove pounds of unwanted fat, it is not the weight loss answer. Eating healthy and exercising will help maintain the shape that a mommy makeover will achieve.

Mommy Makeovers Can Be Your Self Care

Women tend to be selfless; they sacrifice everything for their families. Many women put all of their time and energy into their spouse and children and often neglect themselves. Mommy makeover is the opportunity to give yourself a well-deserved gift.

Mommy Makeovers DO Require Some Downtime

This procedure is for ALL moms (working moms and stay at home moms). Following the procedure, one should allow for a few weeks of less strenuous activity in order for the body to heal. Exercising, going to the gym, and working are permitted, but routines will need to be modified on an individualized basis. These procedures can be done in stages as well. And spouses will need to help out a bit more for the first few weeks. What mommy could argue with that?

At the end of the day, every woman wants to feel good about themselves and have confidence. Mommy makeover offers the opportunity to achieve these goals.
