How to save money on your summer vacation

IMG_7396It’s summertime!!!

That means the kids are home and bored, and you are about to go stir crazy! So, that may entice you to plan a vacation!

Here are a few tips to save a little dough on your summer vacations:

Check out what restaurants are available in your destination area. If you see any that you plan to visit, check their websites and Facebook pages for coupons or for info on when Kids eat free or cheap!

Search for “mommy blogs” in the area you plan to visit. Odds are they will have lists of cheap or free things to do and maybe even a list of Kids Eat Free locations.

Sign up for Groupon, Living Social and any other daily deal sites. Watch the metropolitan area closest to your vacation destination for deals that may interest your family. (I subscribe to favorites like Orlando and Knoxville for deals in the Smokies!)

Use Ebates when booking your travel. It may only be a few percentage points back, but when you are booking big ticket items like airfare or multiple night in a hotel, it can add up to a nice savings!

Cash in your Swagbucks for gift cards to restaurants that may be in your area. Free gift cards = free merchandise and meals! (P.S. I have a giveaway of a $25 Amazon card that is sponsored by Swagbucks on my blog through June 30. Be sure to check it out!)

Remember that a nice hotel pool is a free activity that entertains and wears out the littles! It’s a great included freebie, so don’t neglect it. If you can find one that is geared toward little kids, even better!

I took my family to Disney World last month, and we had gift cards for all of our meals. We took about $100 less than the dining plan would have cost and even brought money home. I am in the process of reviewing that trip on my blog. But, for now, you can read the part about budgeting and getting those gift cards, and how we managed our meals.

Happy Vacations and enjoy the rest of the summer!
