How to get free stuff on your birthday

Did you know that you can get a TON of free stuff on your birthday??

photo-16My birthday is just a couple of weeks away. Any day now, my email will begin to fill up with free appetizers, desserts, etc. from dozens of local restaurants.

“How is this possible?” you ask?

Because as a savings blogger, I sign up for WAY too many newsletters, email clubs, etc. That is because most of them will send you a little treat for signing up, as well as coupons and special offers throughout the year. The majority of them will also send you something for your birthday and maybe even your anniversary.

In my coupon class, I tell people to go ahead and sign up for these programs now so that they will get their birthday treats. But, my suggestion is to do it slowly. Don’t sign up for twenty restaurants at once. The reason to wait is that some of the coupons have expiration dates on them. So, if you sign up and get twenty coupons from restaurants, you may not get to use them before many of them expire and that translates into “waste.” So, think about where you might want to go to dinner, then check out their website, Facebook page, Twitter, etc. to see if they have an email club or newsletter to sign up for. I keep a list on my blog and will be updating with what I get this year over the next few weeks. A few examples of what I’ve received in the past are:

Copeland’s Email Club: $10 off $25 upon sign-up and free dessert on your birthday & the anniversary of your sign-up

La Madeleine: petite Salade or cup of Soupe upon sign-up and free mini dessert on your birthday

Bonefish Grill: $10 gift card for your anniversary and free Bang Bang Shrimp on your birthday.

Just remember that some of “gifts” on the list are almost a year old, so their campaigns may have changed. Be sure to sign up at your favorite restaurants today and watch for the updates very soon!!
