How F*R*I*E*N*D*S quotes seem to fit perfectly with ADULT LIFE!
Warning: (1) if you have never watched FRIENDS, none of this will make sense, and (2) please reach out to me so I can convince you to watch the best show ever created.
“I wish I could help but I don’t want to”
As an adult I feel like I have gotten better at saying NO. It still does not come naturally to me, but I feel I have learned to realize how precious and valuable life is. If agreeing to do something makes you anxious, uncomfortable, or even annoyed, why do it? We have too many other responsibilities to always feel obligated to do for others who may not do for us.
“That sandwich was the only good thing going on in my life”
Adulthood has its perks – but for the most part, it’s hard. As irrational as it may seem, a hot meal or a cold glass of wine sometimes feels like the only good thing happening that day. That is ok! Some days suck and food and wine can make it better. Oh and just like Joey Tribbiani – I do not share food.
“It’s a moo point. It’s like a cow’s opinion. It just doesn’t matter. It’s moo.”
I, like Monica Gellar – Bing, have an uncontrollable need to please people. I like to be liked. I have learned that people will not always like you and that it is ok. If someone does not like you as a person, why make the effort to get them to like you? It’s a waste of time and energy. It’s moo.
“No uterus, no opinion”
Men say there is no pain like being kicked in the privates…yes, there is. Labor. Mic Drop. The end.
“Until I was 25, I thought the only response to ‘I love you’ was ‘oh, crap!’”
There was an article I read recently that said look back and think about what life would be like if you were married to the person you were dating at 22. For some, it may be the person you are married to, but in my case, I cannot imagine what it would have been like. I am so thankful for the heartbreaking moments – being cheated on, being broken up with over text, and not being a priority. Without those moments, I would not be with my amazing husband and we would not have our handsome little boy. Just like Chandler, I went through a lot of bad breakups, and thank God I did so I could find ‘my lobster’.
“Isn’t that just kick you in the crotch, spit on your neck – Fantastic?”
Life. Sometimes life makes the most relaxed person become a sarcastic son of a gun. That’s me. My life is amazing. But every now and then, a moment happens, like “Murphy’s Law” and it makes me shout the famous Rachel quote. (Murphy’s Law: an adage that is typically stated as “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”.)
Things do not go as planned in life. Sometimes you must change and adapt quickly to things that life throws at you. I remind myself daily to take things day by day. Plan a vacation, plan a get together, plan your meals for the week – but do not try to plan things that you cannot control, and you cannot plan out the rest of your life.
I originally had 8 quotes, but I thought the number 7 would be most appropriate given the popularity of the number 7 in the show…
It is scientifically proven, that watching FRIENDS can relieve stress and anxiety – I know first-hand, it is true! Cherish the moments, take it day by day as these are truly the ‘Days of our lives’ – ok I am done.
