“I’m Done.” :: My Brain’s Letter of Resignation

Dear Vianca,

Guess who???

That’s right it’s me, your brain. I know you’ve got a lot going on, running your household, homeschooling, and being a small business owner, but please accept this letter as my formal resignation.

I’m done.

I’ve had enough. I’m overworked and severely underpaid. Quite frankly, I don’t feel as if you appreciate what I bring to the table. We’ve been together for 30 years. In the last 15 of those years, I’ve never gotten a single day off. No vacation days–I mean, come on, where is the appreciation for company loyalty? Everyone needs a break.

You have been demanding more and more from me. Constantly inputting more information than you get rid of. I mean, do we really need to remember what color dress you wore for picture day in 2nd grade? I think not. I know you’ve noticed I’ve started to let things slip through the cracks. Always forgetting that one thing at the store so you have to make another trip, second-guessing literally everything that you do; that is my silent revenge for your years of misuse of my resources. We could have been such a successful team, but you are determined to run me ragged.

It used to be such fun here, but now, GIRL! It’s sad in here ALL the time. Most of the time I don’t even know why. Stressed and sad. The work environment has become too much, and for that reason, I must take my leave. I will cherish the good times we had and look back on them fondly. I hope you will, too. I will train my replacement to the best of my ability, but even I am unsure of how to properly do this job anymore. You definitely need to help set my replacement up for success by getting in to see someone to talk and work on you. My last day will be two weeks from this date to allow for a proper transition. I wish you the best of luck with your next employee. Learn from our experience and don’t make the same mistakes twice.

Sincerely,
Your Brain
