We can all agree that 2020 did not go exactly how we planned it to be. Many of us are looking forward to a better 2021. This year for New Year’s Eve, since many of us will be home, and let’s face it, most of us mommas will be extremely exhausted from the holiday season, here are some fun and delicious cocktails that you can make at home.

Satsuma Margarita

Satsuma Margarita INgredients

After having the delicious Satsuma Orange Margarita at El Gato Negro one evening, I was determined to make these at home. It’s a fun and refreshing cocktail.

For the Glass Rim:

  • 1 teaspoon satsuma orange zest
  • 2 teaspoons white granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt

For those tired mommas, there is a ready-made margarita salt tray that you can purchase to just dip the rim of the glass that has been moistened with some satsuma juice.

For the Drink:

  • 6 fluid ounces tequila of choice
  • 4 fluid ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 16 fluid ounces satsuma orange juice (which is equivalent to about 12 oranges)
  • 4 fluid ounces Cointreu or triple sec

On a small plate, mix the orange zest, granulated sugar and salt. Rub a juiced satsuma or lime (your choice) around each of the glasses’ rims and dip them into the mixture.

To make one pitcher, add three cups of ice cubes to a blender. Pour in tequila, lime juice, satsuma orange juice and Cointreu or triple sec; blend on medium to combine. Pour into pitcher. Serve immediately. Recipe makes about 4 cocktails.

Iced Apple Cider Pear

Since it’s finally cold, apple cider is a happy must for the holiday.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp of brown sugar or vanilla extract
  • 1.5 fluid ounces of Pear Vodka
  • Half a cup of Ice
  • 2 ounces of Apple Cider
  • Sliced Pear
  • One Cinnamon Stick

For the drink, start by pouring 1.5 ounces of the pear vodka in a cocktail shaker. Add 2 ounces of Apple Cider. Stir in 1 tbsp of brown sugar or vanilla extract. Shake mixture. Pour over a half a cup of Pear vodka. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a couple of slices of fresh pear.

Peanut Butter Old Fashioned

I am not the biggest fan of peanut butter (shocking I know), but my husband is a huge fan. He bought Peanut Butter Whiskey a couple of months ago and it is shockingly good. This is a fun twist on an old fashion.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz of Peanut Butter Whiskey (Skrewball or Ram’s Point)
  • 0.75 oz of Sazarac Rye Whiskey
  • 4 dashes of Peychaud Bitters

For the drink, start by pouring the peanut butter whisky in a cocktail shaker. Add the Sazarac Rye Whiskey and bitters. Shake and pour over ice or whiskey stone. Garnish with cherries and an orange peel.
