Toddler Fun this Summer

Hello Summer! While now that we are adults “summer break” does not necessarily exist for us working parents, it still can be enjoyable! With most things being more open now, there are many fun things to do this summer with your toddler.

Blueberry Picking

This is a huge family favorite for us! This is fun for the whole family but it is especially fun for toddlers. On the Northshore, there are over a handful of blueberry farms. Make this a game for toddlers. Give them a bucket and tell them, “Let’s see how many blueberries we can get.” It is such a fun outing and bonus, you get some delicious blueberries for the summer.

Louisiana Children’s Museum

Following a long two years of pandemic craziness, the Children’s Museum finally reopened fully. There are so many interactive experiences for children of all ages. It is a great time for parents and kids.

Audubon Zoo and The Cool Zoo

Seeing and interacting with animals is fun at any age! Audubon Zoo has various animals from Lions to Orangutans to Elephants. My toddler loves seeing the animals and making the noises each makes. The Cool Zoo has reopened as well! So fun! This is a separate fee from just the entrance fee of the Zoo. It is worth it! In the summer heat, running through the water activities is a welcome relief.

SNOWBALLS

With the summer heat, all the snowball stands are finally open. FINALLY! Taking your toddler to a snowball stand and seeing the snowball being put together is such a unique New Orleans experience. Make sure to take lots of wipes and napkins because there will be a mess and it will be worth it. Here’s a list of the best snowballs in New Orleans.

Pool Time

Set up a kiddie pool or splash pad in your yard. This is so fun to watch your toddler splash in and out of the pool enjoying life. We joke in our house that when the pool is up, our daughter is living her best life when playing in the pool. Fair warning, if you have pets, they will probably end up in the pool.

Half-Day Immersions

Be a tourist in your own town! KreweCar offers fun half-day immersion experiences. From fun in the French Quarter to Mid-City to Uptown, they offer it all. This is a memorable trip for you and your toddlers. Each experience is catered to your family. The best part was that the rideshare, KreweCar, provides the car seats for the day of fun!

There are tons of great things to do this summer. Check out the New Orleans Mom Guide to Summer Fun for more ideas! Most importantly enjoy this time with your kids and live your best life!
