We all want what’s best for our babies. If you’re anything like me, I exhaust every possible resource available to research anything and everything that can and will affect my baby girl. Do I breastfeed or bottle feed? Do we use cloth diapers or disposable diapers? Do we make our own baby food or buy jarred purees? Too much information, though, can sometimes be overwhelming. One resource that can help in making those big decisions can be found right here in New Orleans. ZukaBaby, a natural parenting boutique on Magazine Street, specializes in cloth diapers, baby wearing, breastfeeding, natural toys and organic layette. Inspired by the German word Zuker, which means sugar, ZukaBaby is their way of saying “sweet baby.”
They strive to be not only a retail store, but also a building point for a community that wants more; more local, natural, unique, affordable options for our families. ZukaBaby wants to inpsire and educate the community about our choices as modern parents in economically and environmentally difficult times. They offer ongoing Natural Parenting classes, a resource board, a diaper exchange and drop off location for the Cloth Diaper Foundation, products that are made with respect to workers and the environment and so much more.
And, our very own Courtney, recently reinstated the La Leche League of New Orleans, which meets at ZukaBaby at 2122 Magazine St on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. The next meeting will be September 4th. If you have any questions, please email Courtney at courtney (at) neworleansmomsblog (dot) com.
We are excited that one lucky New Orleans Moms Blog reader will win a $50 gift certificate to ZukaBaby!! All launch week giveaway winners will be announced on Saturday, August 18.
